Cobra Strike
From the Desk of the Junior/Senior High School Principal

Take Pride
With the winter season starting to transition to spring with all but one winter season having wrapped up, it would be easy to start talking about spring and baseball, softball or track. However, the ladies on the court told me quite loudly last Friday night, "Not yet!" After a season that was plagued with injury and insult left and right, it was not looking like our post season was going to be one with much to cheer about. But you can't count out the Cobras. The ladies have found the fire they needed the past few weeks to get the job done and Friday night was no different. That was probably the hardest fought Game the ladies have been through all season and their tireless work has paid off with a round one victory.
While the team has shown incredible fight, let’s do our part and make sure our support in the stands reflects that same resilience. We are some of the most passionate fans around, and that energy makes a difference. Great fans don’t waste time dwelling on what didn’t go their way; they channel that passion into celebrating what did. Instead of getting caught up in frustration over a call, let’s cheer louder for the hustle, the rebounds, and the big plays our ladies are making. We aren’t victims—we’re competitors, warriors. We are the Cobras! So when we head to Doniphan West on Wednesday at 7:00 PM, let’s bring the energy that lifts our team up, not the negativity that drags us down. Be loud, be proud, and most importantly, be the kind of fans that make our players want to fight even harder.
I will be heading up a pep bus for Wednesday's game. We will be taking a whole can of Cobras up there so I hope they are ready for us.

MS Basketball Ending its Season
2024-2025 Middle School Boy’s Basketball Season
I would like to start off by saying that I really enjoyed working with these young men and appreciated their effort. I saw a lot of growth throughout the Season. Every game, they worked as hard as they could to be successful. I believe that they did this. Not, every game ended up with the WIN like everyone wants, but these young men never gave up and worked until the final buzzer.
We had great leadership with Jamison Huyett, Cameron Alley and Tatum Eisenbarth. They worked hard every day in practice and this made everyone around them work hard and get better.
Our team consisted of:
8th Grade: Cameron Alley, Brian Burnett, Tatum Eisenbarth, Jamison Huyett, Rylan Montgomery, Leo Peterson and Luke Robertson
7th Grade: Levi Brucken, Kane Cochren, Brandin Fritz, Alexander Jimenez, Corbin Latham and Owen Shughart
I hope that all of you keep working on the skills that we worked on to keep getting better. Also, to please get a basketball in hand and practice shooting. That is what is great about Basketball, you don’t need a lot to work on skills to make yourself better. You just need to make time to do it. Please remember that you are a Student / Athlete. Always get your assignments completed on time and completed. Then enjoy the Reward of Representing Jackson Heights Athletic Programs (or any other activities that you participate in).
I want to Thank Coach Wick for all of his time and Energy. He did a great job and helped push these young men to get the best out of them. I want to Thank the Staff for putting up with the days that we had to leave a little early (I am so glad Seminar is at the end of the day now).
Thank you for your Support,
Coach Marvin Keehn

FFA Week Recap: A Celebration of Tradition, Competition, and Controversy
FFA Week brought a mix of tradition, fun, and a little bit of controversy—just the way we like it. The week’s events showcased the passion, teamwork, and competitive spirit that make our FFA chapter stand out.
Wednesday: Drive Your Truck or Tractor to School Day
Nothing says FFA pride quite like a parking lot filled with pickups and tractors. Students rolled in showcasing their best farm rigs, proving once again that agriculture isn’t just something we talk about—it’s a way of life.
Thursday: Dinner and a Movie Day
FFA members gathered for a well-earned break, enjoying a classic film that every cowboy (and cowgirl) should see—The Cowboys. A good meal and a great movie made for the perfect way to unwind before the big competition on Friday.
Friday: The Aggie Olympics—Where Legends (and Controversies) Were Made
And then came the main event—Aggie Olympics, where teams faced off in events that tested their skills, determination, and ability to not take themselves too seriously.
The headline of the day? The monumental and highly controversial upset of the century—the seniors narrowly snatching victory from the reigning staff champions by one single point. The deciding factor? Mr. Henry’s unfortunate struggle to pop even one balloon in the final event. One balloon. One pop. That was all it would have taken to keep the staff dynasty alive. But fate (and some questionable technique) had other plans.
If that wasn’t enough, controversy erupted again when Micah was disqualified in the horse apple relay under the claim that she didn’t cross the finish line with her apple still balanced on the stick. Whether justice will be served remains to be seen—film evidence may yet tell the full story. Stay tuned for that verdict.
The Halftime Show That No One Saw Coming
As if the competition itself wasn’t enough entertainment, spectators were treated to a halftime performance from none other than Mr. Smith and Mr. Howard, who brought their own brand of showmanship to the event. Whether it was planned or an impromptu stroke of brilliance, one thing is for certain—it left an impression.
At the end of the day, FFA Week was about more than just competition. It was a chance to come together, celebrate our agricultural roots, and prove once again that the spirit of FFA runs deep at Jackson Heights.
Congratulations to all who participated, and for those still bitter about the outcome—there’s always next year.
