Weekly Update
From the Desk of the Principal
December 6, 2024
Dear Masconomet Middle School Families,
I hope that the start of this holiday season has been filled with joy, laughter, and quality time spent with loved ones. As we are at the beginning of the second trimester and first trimester grades have been posted, I remind you to check in with your child(ren) about school, how things went during first trimester and where improvements can be made during trimester 2.
As we embark on this middle portion of the school year, I am excited to continue fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for your students. We encourage you to stay connected with your child's teachers and to support their academic and social-emotional growth.
During the holiday season and beyond, many Tri-Town families are in need of support. There are ways our communities can support this important effort. Please see the attached letter below for ways to help! As always, thank you for your support!
Please see below for this week’s updates.

Dismissal, Absence & Tardy Policy Reminder
We want our students in school so, when possible, please try to make appointments outside the school day. Please limit travel within the school calendar. Attendance in school is important and learning takes place every day.
Dismissals: Students must have a note from home. If you are going to dismiss your child, please send them in with a note stating their name and time of dismissal. The note should be brought to the main office as soon as they arrive at school, no later than 7:35 a.m. They will be given a dismissal note to show to their teacher at the time of dismissal; and they will meet you at your car once you arrive. Please avoid last minute dismissals, when possible, in order to avoid unnecessary disruption to instructional time.
Absences: Please call the attendance line by 8:15 a.m. to report your child absent. The number is 978-887-2323 select 2 for Middle School and then 1 to leave the name of the student who will be absent. Without a note from a medical provider or other circumstances as outlined in the Student & Family handbook such as a death in the family, absences are unexcused.
Tardies: All students who are late to school should sign in at the Middle School main office. It will be an unexcused tardy unless excused by a medical provider’s note. Excessive tardy arrivals will lead to intervention by the Asst. Principal, per the Student and Family Handbook.
Make up Work: if absent, students can access Blackboard to obtain their work and email teachers if they have questions when they feel well enough if out sick. Students can coordinate with teachers when returning to school regarding class work or missed assessments.
Visiting Masco MS
REMINDER: all visitors, including parents and caregivers, must check in at the main office upon arrival. Ring the bell at the front door and report to the front desk, even if heading to the nurse's office. Please share this with anyone connected to your child. Thank you for helping keep our building safe!
