Middle School East - October 2024
A Message from Principal Jennifer Kelly 🍎
Dear Middle School East Families,
This past month has been filled with exciting events that truly brought our school community together! We kicked off with successful Fall Conferences, where parents and teachers had the opportunity to connect and collaborate on student progress, ensuring that everyone is aligned and working toward achieving our students' academic goals. It was wonderful to see so many of you engaged in these important conversations, and we appreciate your continued dedication to your child’s success.
Following that, our Family Fun Night was a fantastic evening! Families gathered for a night filled with games, laughter, and entertainment. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as parents, students, and staff came together to unwind and enjoy each other's company in a relaxed, fun environment. The positive energy and community spirit were heartwarming, and we are so glad to have shared this evening with so many of you!
Additionally, our first Activity Night of the school year was a huge hit with the students! They enjoyed a variety of activities, from sports and games to music, making it a memorable night of friendship and fun. It was a joy to see our students laughing and bonding while making the most of the activities. We’re already looking forward to our next event!
Thank you for your continued support, and we’re excited for what’s to come and look forward to celebrating the upcoming seasons with our wonderful school community! Following are pictures from our Family Knight for you to enjoy. We appreciate your participation in our mutual goal of respectful and quality communication and engagement.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Kelly

Students are required to attend school for a minimum of five of the seven class periods to be permitted entry to after-school activities. Please remind your students that all school rules apply, including the prohibition of cell phone use. Students will have access to the phone in the office if they need to contact a parent or guardian.
Parent Drop off & Pick up Reminders!
As the weather changes, we are reminding parents and guardians to follow the drop-off and pick-up procedures, as it impacts everyone in the line. Pulling all the way forward in the drop zone allows students to be picked up and dropped off efficiently and safely. Parents who choose to drop their children directly in front of the door when there is space to pull forward, cause significant delays for others. We greatly appreciate parents and guardians partnering with us and following the expectations detailed below.
October Character Strong
October’s Character Strong theme is Responsibility. This month, students will focus on the importance of owning their actions, making thoughtful choices, and following through on commitments. Responsibility helps build trust, promotes accountability, and encourages personal growth. Through classroom discussions and activities, students will learn how being responsible leads to success both academically and personally.
Families can support this theme by encouraging students to take responsibility at home, whether it’s completing chores, managing time, or taking care of personal belongings. Responsibility is not just about fulfilling tasks, but also about learning from mistakes and making positive changes. As a district, we are committed to fostering a culture of responsibility that empowers our students to become reliable and self-driven members of the community.
October Highlights 📸
Flowers & Thank you's!
Mrs. Snyder's KORT class learned about different flowers, design basics, and some tips on how to make flowers last as long as possible (All flowers came from Mrs. Snyder's amazing garden!). They then wrote a "thank you" note to a staff member and hand delivered their flower bouquets to brighten someone's day!
WEB Kindness Lesson
MSE WEB leaders visited the 5th grade classrooms to teach a lesson about kindness. 5th grade students had a “toothpaste race,” where they had to squeeze toothpaste out of the tube, and then try to put the toothpaste back into the tube. The lesson being that it’s easy to say anything, but not easy to take those words back.

Counseling Corner
Please remember that our doors are open to discuss any concerns—whether they’re related to academics, friendships, or emotional well-being. This is also a great time to check in with your child about how they’re feeling about school, helping them set goals, and encouraging them to seek support if needed.
Our goal is to ensure that each student feels confident and equipped to thrive throughout the school year. Let’s work together to ensure this year is full of learning, growth, and positive experiences for all!
Please visit our Counseling webpage for additional counseling resources.
