Empowering Students to Own Their Learning
Second-grade teachers Rachel Chiesa and Katie Jenkins along with Enrichment Specialist Christie Wylie are promoting a love of learning by providing students with an opportunity for personal success, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, flexible thinking, and collaboration which they see leads to academic success. The journey toward what is dubbed, Student Agency, began with a districtwide training initiative under the author, Trevor Mackenzie. The next steps for the team is to collaborate among grade levels to further integrate Student Agency into everyday lessons across Sprague. Enjoy the team's Student Agency video that includes student voice.

8:10? Park & Walk Child to Office
As the colder weather sets in, we want to remind everyone of our drop off procedures, especially on those chilly mornings. We understand that it's tempting to drive your child to school, but we cannot accommodate the volume of parents attempting to drop off their children at the school on cold days.
Our staff has to be in their classrooms by 8:10 a.m. to prepare for the school day, and we simply do not have the staff capacity to supervise students after that time. If you choose to drive your child to school instead of having them take the bus, please be aware that our staff will not be able to assist with drop off after 8:10 a.m. At that point, we ask that you park, walk your child into the office, and sign them in for the day.
The most efficient and safest option remains to have your child ride the bus daily. It is free and efficient, and children like to ride the bus.
We also kindly ask that all parents respect the rules and follow the drop off procedures. Our staff is here to help, but we need everyone to be on the same page to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Lost and Found
Please check the abandoned items in the school's Lost and Found to see if any of these items belong to your child. Unclaimed items will be donated after school on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Bundle Up for Winter
With the season change, this is also a wonderful opportunity to check your child’s locker for any clothes that may no longer fit or are for a different season. Ensuring our Wildcats have the right winter essentials—warm coats, hats, mittens, and boots—will help keep them comfortable and safe while enjoying the fresh outdoor air. Thank you for helping us ensure every child is prepared for the season ahead!

Brad's Bookworms Initiative
Congressman Brad Schneider is launching the sixth annual "Brad's Bookworms" program to encourage reading and learning for elementary school students (grades K-5) and their families!
Children participating in the program are asked to read and log 10 books with help from parents, grandparents, older siblings, or other family members, and track their progress toward this goal. Young people who meet the 10 books goal will be invited with their families to a recognition ceremony with Congressman Schneider to celebrate their achievement. The deadline to complete logs is Sunday, Feb. 2.
