A Message from the Library Director by Susan Gregurek
Summer is off to a GREAT start in the library! We started June with JCLRC's 5th Anniversary Celebration. Thank you to everyone that joined us for cookies and cupcakes! The library has been given the opportunity to receive a matching donation to the library. Every dollar counts that is donated to the library through July 31st. We would appreciate everyone's support in helping us meet our goal for the donation. Donations can be made in cash, check, or Venmo.
We'd like to thank Jarrell ISD for providing the space for the STEM Forged Summer Video Game Camp and to Michael Griffith for facilitating. Many people have requested information for STEM Forged. Call or email the Library Director for more information at jarrelllibrarydirector@gmail.com.
The Jarrell Community Health Fair was a huge success! We would like to thank everyone who signed up to donate blood. The We Are Blood bus met its quota for the day. If your child needs dental services this summer, the library has information on the St. David's Foundation Children's Dental bus which is located at Jarrell ISD for the summer. These services are for all children in the community, not just students attending JISD. If you missed the Health Fair, the library has many flyers for services such as CARTS Ride, the Caring Place, Williamson County Health Department, St. David's Foundation Dental bus, WIC, Foundations Community healthcare marketplace, and more.
We are thankful to Tanya Clawson and the Clawson Disposal family for bringing four types of trash and recycling trucks to Touch A Truck Day at the library. The kids and adults loved visiting with Rocky from Paw Patrol! The Clawson family made the event a highlight of our summer.
The Summer Reading Program groups have enjoyed their Adventures in the Library! We will take a break for the first week of July in honor of the holiday. Groups will resume the 2nd week of July. Our drawing for the first round of Beanstack gift baskets will take place on Sunday, June 30th.
On July 1st there will be a new Beanstack Challenge with 24 new prize baskets. The challenge was divided into two parts on Beanstack this year because of the difficulties of losing prizes for July when we had the drawing for June last year, so you will need to join the new challenge for July.
The library staff is excited to share our two new upgrades to the Main Library area and our website. This new construction will allow the library to utilize the space as a large room area in the future with moveable shelving. We want to give Eric Kaderka of Kaderka Coatings and Greg Gregurek special thanks for bringing our vision to fruition. We would also like to thank Roger Jorns of Reanimation Designs for upgrading our website. We truly appreciate the support of our community who help the library grow and expand in services.
Speaking of services, Donna Oestrick is now a notary for the library. Her hours are Tu/Thurs: 12:00-6:00 pm and Weds: 10:00-3:00 pm. Please call the library if you need to make a special request for her services.
Read on! Happy Fourth of July!

Libraries for Health
Strengthening Mental Health in Summer
Summer can be a time full of excitement and happiness. It is also a great time to invest in lifestyle habits and support your mental health. While there are some stressors unique to summer, such as feeling overwhelmed by the amount of activities and getting less sleep, it is a good time for most people's mental health. Therefore, it is a good time to set habits and prepare for the coming months.
Forming Habits
- Set Boundaries: You don't have to say yes to every opportunity you are presented with. Seek out the activities and plans that seem the best to you and take breaks when you need them.
- Set a sleep schedule: One possible way to do this is by sleeping with the sun, don't stay up for too long once it is dark outside.
- Engage in physical activity: Improving your physical health can have great benefits on your mental health. With the warmer weather comes more opportunities for outdoor exercise and play. Set a standard for how active you are now so that you will more likely find ways to stay active moving forward.
- Have fun: Making an effort to intentionally improve your mental health is beneficial, but don't let it get in the way of your fun.

Friends of the Jarrell Community Library
The Friends of the Jarrell Community Library Group dedicate their time and efforts to raising funds for the library. We would like to thank Maya Wrought- President, Jennifer Leavitt-Secretary, Donna Oestrick- Treasureer of the Friend's Group for their excitement to bring Jarrell Library and Resource Center to the next level in Jarrell, Texas.
The next meeting of the Friends Group will be July 18 at 6:00 pm. We welcome all new members to join us in planning our Art and Wine Walk fundraiser being hosted at Sereno Farms on September 28th from 11am to 5pm. This will be our largest event to date. There is a need for many volunteers to create this event. Please spread the word to join us as we plan for the event.
This fundraiser is extremely important to the library's operations for 2025. St. David's Foundation graciously provided a grant to build capacity and to grow the library for the first three years. This grant comes to a close December 31st. The future success of the library is determined by fundraising.
