📢ATTENTION JUNIOR PARENTS!📢
New state requirement for the Meningococcal and Hepatitis A vaccine for all students entering 12th grade in the 2024-2025 school year. The state of Indiana requires two doses of Hepatitis A and a second booster dose of the Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine for students entering 12th grade. These vaccines are a legal requirement for school entry (Indiana Administrative Code 410 IAC 1-1-1) for the 2024-2025 school year.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
- SERVICE LEARNING OPPERTUNITY: Fairmount youth sports is looking for concession workers. You can earn your service learning hours for the year quickly with this project. It is open from now until June and you can volunteer about three hours per night. If you are interested see Mrs. Hodson for more information.
- MEDICATIONS: Any student who has medication (Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Allergy meds are included) needs to have a parent pick it up by that last day of school, 5/23/24. If medications are not picked up, they will be thrown out. So please, if you have medication in the nurse's clinic, pick it up before the last day of school!
- IWU ACADEMIC YOUTH PROGRAMS: Wildcat Summer Academy is offering a unique opportunity for students 8th grade thru Juniors to engage in a college-like experience while delving into their areas of interest. The Wildcat Summer Academy provides an immersive learning environment where participants can explore a specific area of interest through one of eleven academic camps. These camps cover a diverse range of subjects, including Nursing, Art & Design, Writing, Forensic Science, Urban Farming, Musical Theatre, Engineering, Social Work, Multimedia Production, Computer Science, and Music Therapy. - MAGGIE NIEMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND: I wanted to share the link to order t-shirts to support the Maggie Nieman "Wonderifick" Scholarship! Funds raised go into an account to support our Seniors here at MG! Some of the funds will also be shared with our Art Department! - THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE SUMMER CAMP: The Paramount Theatre Centre and Ballroom is introducing 2 new programs, one this summer, the other this fall. Both will serve to pique interest in live theatre, first to understand and experience what is involved in learning and producing a live theatre performance for the stage, and second to attend and enjoy live children's theatre performance by professional companies in the beautiful confines of the Paramount Theatre. From June 17-28, 2024, the Paramount will be hosting its inaugural summer theatre camp. Students ages 10-18 are invited to take part in this for a nominal fee of $150 if registered before May 15th, and $175 if registered after. Each participant will receive all instruction, a tee shirt, and a daily afternoon snack. The session led by accomplished theatrical teachers will take place at the Paramount Theatre, 1124 Meridian St, Anderson, from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. For more info click here
- PRAYER LOCKER: Just a reminder that there is a prayer locker for anyone interested in filling out an index card with a little prayer. It can be for yourself, a friend, family member, neighbor, whoever. Just take a card, write down your prayer and stick it in the slots in the locker. The locker can be found in C Hallway. Locker number 165!
- HAZELBAKER LIBRARY: Join them every 3rd Tuesday night for different events!
- OUTSIDE FOOD: Just a reminder that there must be NO OUTSIDE ORDERED FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA!!!! (Example: McDonalds, Subway, Pizza) If you bring food in, you can take it to Student Services and eat it there.

- 2024 INDIANA SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION YOUTH LEADERSHIP CAMP: The ISA, a nonprofit organization, will sponsor and provide Youth Leadership Camps for students currently in 7th or 8th grade, or 8th entering 9th grade. The camp will be comprised of Indiana sheriffs' deputies, department personnel, ISA staff and other volunteers. Camp activities will include, but are not limited to, law enforcement related displays, career-oriented, leadership skills, obstacle courses, swimming, marching and other recreational and sporting activities. There will be opportunities for discussion and personal contact with some of Indiana's finest law enforcement officers. There are two different sessions, one for northern counties, one for southern counties. Pick up an application in Student Services. DEADLINE FOR NORTHERN-JUNE 1ST, SOUTH- JUNE 15TH

GRADES 9TH - 12TH ANNOUNCEMENTS
- ISU SUMMER OPPERTUNITES: Indiana State has two summer opportunities this year through our Summer Honors Program and Makers Week. Summer Honors and Makers Week are programs for high school students graduating in 2025 or 2026 and will be held July 14th - 20th, 2024 on the campus of Indiana State University. Students can explore an academic interest in a seminar and earn University credit through college-level course work. Students experience living in a residence hall and enjoy campus life activities in the evenings. The Summer Honors 2024 program fee is $425*. This includes all meals, housing, seminar books and supplies, and seminar-sponsored activities. There are scholarship opportunities awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for those participating in the 21st Century Scholar program or students eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch to cover the entire cost of the program. APPLY BY JUNE 7TH!
- ISU SUMMER COURSE: STAGE COMBAT FOR HS STUDENTS: The Indiana State University Department of Theater is hosting a one-week summer camp/class called Stage Combat: Act the Fight! The camp/course will cover unarmed stage combat techniques and how to perform them onstage. This is a great camp for actors who want to learn more about stage combat or are looking to expand their acting skills. The course is rooted in safely and accurately performing common stage combat in theater: falls, punches, slaps, vocals and more! The residential camp/course runs July 14-20, and if for high school students in the classes of 2025 and/or 2026, who have at least a 2.4 GPA. Participants will stay on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute for the camp, and all meals are taken care of. At the end of the camp/course, there is a culminating performance of scenes that is open to family/friends to attend! Registration runs through June 7, 2024. - ESPORTS AT IWU: IWU is excited to announce that Esports is now a Varsity Sport. Whether you already have an established esports club or program, or whether you may be interested in getting involved in competitive esports in college, IWU would love to talk to interested students about the opportunities they can provide! IWU offers scholarships for participating students and are recruiting at all talent levels for Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Valorant. - MUSIC THERAPY CAMP THRU IWU: This summer, the Wildcat Summer Academy offers Music Therapy to deliver a college-like experience to high school students on campus. Experience what the field of music therapy looks like in this one week intensive. Find out how this growing field is helping individuals from the beginning of life to the end of life and how music plays an important part in brain development. The all-inclusive camps begin at $450 and include room, food, and the campus experience. Summer Camps will fill quickly. Summer dates are June 16-21. - PAINTING OF SENIOR PARKING SPOTS 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR: The design form and the $20 MUST be submitted to Mrs. Buster for approval NO LATER THAN May 22nd. Late applications will NOT be accepted. If you only want to reserve a spot and won't be painting, please indicate this on the application. We will be going out and choosing spots the last week of school during homeroom TBA on which day depending on weather and availability.
- FREE SUMMER CLASSES THRU IVY TECH: Ivy Tech is offering a wide range of subjects to explore and college credits to earn. This is a fantastic platform for students to broaden their horizons, accelerate their academic journey, and gain valuable skills for their future. All expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and course fees, are covered. High School students may take ANY class (course placement and prerequisites still apply) There is no cap to the number of classes that may be taken. - IVY TECH: Ivy Tech will be here every Wednesday to answer and questions or concerns. They will be in Mrs. Hodson's room.
- RISING JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Rising juniors and seniors interested in pursuing certifications that have fees associated with them now have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to cover the costs. This includes cosmetology and certifications that are outside of the standard certifications that MG already covers. If you are interested in learning more contact Mrs. Hodson. SENIOR FLING!!!
May 31st after graduation rehearsal, please join the Senior Class Sponsors and your parent planning committee for a cookout, outdoor games, and prizes! Plan to eat hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, fruit, and cookies, along with a snow cone machine. Activities include giant tricycle races and all your favorite summer outdoor games for all seniors and junior eligible graduates!
Seniors can look forward to prizes suited to send you on your way to your new life but you must be present to win!
