Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,


Please remember there is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, November 4th and Tuesday, November 5th. All Monomoy teachers will be involved in two-days of professional development. Students in Grades K-12 will return to school on Wednesday. PreK students return on Thursday.


November may be a short month thanks to professional development days and holidays, but that doesn't deter us from making the most of the days we do have together. On Wednesday, November 13th CES will hold its annual Veterans Day Assembly. Please see below for more details and how to submit photos of your favorite veterans for our slideshow.


In other news, I hope you will join me in congratulating Ms. Deb Gebhardt on her new role as the Lead Administrative Assistant for Monomoy Middle School. Ms. Deb will begin her new position on Monday, November 18th. While we are sad to lose her at CES, we are thrilled that she will remain on as our Club Coordinator and be able to keep an eye on our middle school SHARKS.

Veterans Day Assembly - 11.13.24

Our annual Veterans Day Assembly will take place on Wednesday, November 13th at 1:00 pm. We invite any current or former service members to join us for this special event for poems, music, and a video slideshow.


We need your help in creating our slideshow to honor the Veterans in our community. You can view last year's slideshow by clicking the orange link above. Unfortunately, the file with all of last year's photos was corrupted, so we need all photos to be resubmitted. Please submit your photos and information about your veterans HERE. Our students love seeing their family members and friends in the video and we love celebrating our veterans!


Submissions and RSVP for the assembly are due by Friday, November 8th!

Thanksgiving at CBI

One of our favorite traditions at CES returns on Wednesday, November 20th with our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon at Chatham Bars Inn. Many years ago, CES did not offer hot lunches. One of the chefs at CBI wanted to make sure that CES students received at least one hot lunch a year at school and the Thanksgiving Luncheon was created.


The incredibly generous staff at CBI hosts our entire school for a sit down Thanksgiving feast in their dining room. Students and staff dress up in their finest and enjoy a meal. Afterwards, the students sing for the staff at Chatham Bars Inn as thanks for the event.

CES Fastest Class Contest

Getting Fit & Having Fun with Mr. DiNoia

During the month of October, students in Mr. DiNoia's gym classes participated in the Fastest Class Challenge. Our speedy SHARKS worked hard on their running skills and the competion was FIERCE!


After many close races, the final results are in. Please congratulate the students of Mr. Gessner's 4th grade class for winning the Grade 3-4 Bracket and the students of Mrs. Tuccio's 2nd grade class for winning the Grade 1-2 Bracket. We look forward to more healthy competitions throughout the school year!

Notes from Nurse Heidi

Reporting Absences

Please call the Main Office at 508-945-5135 or use Pick Up Patrol to report student absences. Our classroom teachers are often unable to check their email prior to the start of school and the Main Office and Nurse's Office don't learn of the email before they begin calling home. Contacting the Main Office or using Pick Up Patrol are the best ways to inform the school of an absence.

CES Parent Teacher Organization

The Chatham Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (CES PTO) is looking for families and staff members to help plan and run school-wide events and fundraisers. Coming soon is the Annual Holiday Movie during the Chatham Stroll.


You can volunteer a little or a lot of time, any help is deeply appreciated and benefits all members of our community! We hope you will join us on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00 pm in the Media Center to learn more about our plans for this year and how you can participate.

SHARK Shout Outs

Thank you to the MRHS writing club, Sandscript, for joining us on Thursday to share your holdiay stories with our students! Our little SHARKS love learning and spending time with our grown SHARKS!!


Thank you to Mr. DiNoia for organizing and running the first-ever FASTEST CLASS CONTEST. Our SHARKS had a blast!!


A HUGE thank you to the Chatham Merchants Association and the CES PTO for sponsoring our annual Halloween Parade on Wednesday, October 30th! We had a fin-tastic time showing off our costumes and enjoying the beautiful weather together. The treats were an added bonus!!


Thanks to the morning crew of Ms. Linnell, Ms. Groves, and Dr. Kelly for bringing a little whimsy to arrival on Thursday morning!
