An Eye For An Eye by Jeffrey Archer
In this fast moving suspense novel, a priceless document has been in an English family's possession for centuries. While the patriarch, Lord Hartley, lies dying, his son is involved in an international scandal and is imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for a murder he witnessed, but did not commit. After Lord Hartley dies, his widow is left in a panic on how she will survive financially. She turns to a man she met at her husband's funeral and relies on him to help her navigate her dilemma. Unbeknownst to her, the man is the attorney for a nefarious criminal who not only knows about the priceless document, but also has a vendetta against her family. In the story, people are speeding around the world chasing one another. Characters are referred to by their first names or their last names or their titles, which I found to be confusing. There were side stories and corruption throughout the book. This was my first book by this author. I'm not certain I will read others.
