The goal of a School Improvement Plan (SIP) process is to create a strong plan to raise student achievement in the school. It outlines the work that will be done during the year to meet the end of year student goals. It is based off of data about the school's performance from the previous year, and builds goals from that to increase student achievements. It is also regularly updated throughout the year if student work suggests that progress is not on track.

The pie graph below explains how RPS spent Title 1 funds for this school year. You can click the graphic to access more information about the budget. You may also give suggestions on budget spending on our evaluation linked at the end of this presentation.

RPS uses a benchmark program called MAPs. Students will take the MAP benchmark three times a year. The progress is tracked on the MAP Growth Family Report, which is individualized for each student. Teachers share this data with parents during our Family and School Team (F.A.S.T.) meetings, individual parent/teacher conferences, and at the end of the year with report cards. You may ask for this report or request a conference at anytime during the school year.

All Title 1 schools must supply a plan that is jointly developed by the school, parents, and family members. It is based on effective means of improving student achievement and includes strategies to support parent and family engagement.

This is called the Parent & Family Engagement Policy. This policy is reviewed every year, revised upon input from families, and approved at the Spring Parent Advisory Council. You will be asked to approve in the evaluation of this meeting.

Title 1 offers parent input through surveys conducted in the fall and spring. Parent Coordinators will share the cumulative results with parents at Advisory Council meetings, and with staff through meetings or trainings. These surveys help us understand what is most important to families, what we will keep doing, and what we can do differently to support them. The spring survey covers communication, programs, events, and information involving family engagement.
