Spring is here! The days are getting warmer, flowers and trees are blooming, and it's the perfect time for new learning adventures at Llano. As we move towards the finish line of this semester, we're excited about all the fun and learning ahead as we begin the new season with outdoor activities, projects, and lots of creativity. Here's to a bright, happy spring ahead!

Read Across America

Cat in the Hat, Victoria Talamantes came with Thing 1, Mariana Lujan and Thing 2, Cristina Wilhoit to read to our kindergarten students to celebrate Read Across America. Thank you so much to the Lea County Community Engagement team for taking the time to come to Llano! The students loved listening to Dr. Seuss books from the characters of the story! Below students had fun in an Around the World and listened to Dr. Seuss books and completed an activity to go with the book in each teachers classroom. They had a great time!

Pre-K Focus for the month of February:

Theme: Continue the Ocean theme and introduce the new theme Animals All Around.

Sign-in: letters Vv, Ww, Xx & Yy

Heggerty: (Week 16-19): Rhyme recognition, Isolating onset phonemes (sounds) in spoken language, Isolating medial phonemes (vowels) in spoken words, and reciting nursery rhymes.

Fundations: Introduce letters Vv, Ww, Xx & Yy

Eureka Math: Module 3 (How Many Questions with up to 7 objects)

Numbers: Review writing 0-10, Introduce numbers 11-18

Kindergarten Learning Focus:

Saxon Phonics: Letter Recognition/Letter Sounds: ck, sh, th, oo, long vowels a, e, i, o, u

Eureka Math: Module 5 ~ Place Value, Counting to 20, writing 11-20

Sight Words: are, was, be, do, had ten, but, want, up, look

Writing ~ Students will continue to focus on correct punctuation and writing a complete sentence.
