Benefits of Arriving on Time
Every minute counts in school! When children arrive on time, they begin their day with a positive outlook. Students have responsibilities early in the day:
Order lunch
Unpack materials
Begin morning work to settle into the day
When children arrive on time, they support the classroom focus on learning. Research has shown that attendance is critical for school success. A student who is 5-10 minutes late every day will miss the equivalent of a week of school.

Dear Green Meadow Families,
Our hearts go out to the Winder, Georgia community as they process the senseless violence that occurred in the Apalachee High School this week. As Superintendent Haas stated in his update, we take the safety of our students and staff very seriously and will provide families with greater detail about our approach to school safety next week.
This week there has been more construction preparation activity on our campus as the site continues to be prepped. I have received some inquiries about the timing of deliveries and the construction fencing. Please know that the project manager and the general contractor are aware of the issues and working to resolve them moving forward.
Parking has also been raised as a concern and I understand that parking spaces are limited for both parents and staff. Whenever possible, we recommend carpooling with neighbors and walking to school to help reduce the traffic. Please honor the "no parking" signs along Tiger Drive and as you enter the bus circle. These signs are posted for pedestrian safety and to allow space for the school buses to pass safely. I understand that the changes to the Crowe Park lot are an inconvenience and I anticipate that we will need to work through other disruptions as the new school project enters the next phases.
Please try to keep the end goal in mind. Maynard will have a state of the art elementary school in just a couple of years if we can stick to the timelines. You can read all of the weekly project updates on our school website.
Respectfully,
Karen Lindquist
A Message from the School Nurse
Maynard is currently at a moderate risk level for EEE (Eastern equine encephalitis). We'd like to share helpful information and resources to families in an effort to educate and protect from this rare but serious illness.
Some precautions to take:
- Apply insect repellent when going outdoors. Mosquito repellents
- Wear long sleeves, long pants and socks when going outdoors.
- Be aware of peak mosquito hours.
- Mosquito proof your home.
Please check out the following links for more information as well as the Superintendent's Update on EEE:

Counselor's Corner
We did it! We’re back at school. Many of us, teachers and students alike, can’t wait for the return, while others are nervous or even anxious about the transition and change in routine. Much of this is to be expected and typically dissipates as the weeks progress and routines are set. Here are some back to school tips as well as things you can do at home to help your child through the transition if you’re seeing any back to school anxiety. Remember, our counseling team is here to help! Questions or concerns? Please contact Julie Danforth at jdanforth@maynard.k12.ma.us.

Community Service Opportunity
Students and Families can support the Maynard Food Pantry by participating in the Stuff a Cruiser event. This year Maynard is joining Stow, Bolton, Hudson & Acton as part of a friendly inter-town competition to see who can get the most donations. Families who are unable to attend the event on Saturday, September 14, are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to the Green Meadow lobby to help contribute. We will have bins available to accept items Monday, September 9 - Friday, September 13.
