The Clarkstown Connection
April 2024
A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Clarkstown Central School District Families and Staff,
After months of planning and dedicated work, the Clarkstown Central School District is scheduled to launch a new and updated website on Wednesday, May 1. The new site offers a modern, mobile-friendly design and streamlined user experience. In addition, the website features a clear and simple audience-driven navigation, new content, enhanced site accessibility and a more comprehensive look and feel that aligns with the CCSD brand.
The new and improved website has a cleaner, more attractive design that prioritizes the most frequently-sought content from the old site. All digital pages are responsive – ensuring a seamless user experience on desktop, laptop, mobile and tablet devices.
The CCSD website provides key information about the District and all 13 schools, annual budgets, Board of Education agendas and minutes and contacts for all staff and departments within the District. Parents and caregivers can access the District calendar, lunch menus, health forms, essential documents and links to technology resources and tools. The new site is designed to fulfill web accessibility requirements under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) – enabling individuals with vision, hearing and physical challenges to more easily access the site. Additionally, with the help of Weglot, users can quickly translate the entire site into different languages.
Here is what you need to know about the transition to the new site:
From Blackboard to Finalsite: Our previous web host provider, Blackboard Web Community Manager, was recently acquired by Finalsite. We continue to work with the Finalsite team to enhance the online experience with the new platform.
Same Web Addresses: The new websites will maintain many of the same web addresses, ensuring easy access.
Pardon Our Progress: Once the new site launches on May 1, we invite you to visit and explore the District and school sites. Please keep in mind that our new website is a work in progress. Content will continue to be updated and reformatted in the coming weeks.
The Clarkstown Central School District strives to make information about our programs, supports and people accessible to all members of our community. We hope everyone finds the newly-designed District website to be a valuable resource for learning more about our District. We look forward to providing you with an improved online experience.

April Highlights
As part of the District's "Enrichment for All" initiative, which offers comprehensive STEM curriculum to all elementary students, second graders explored Sphero indi. As learners progress from kindergarten through Grade 5, they gain exposure to the engineering design process and key computer science topics that prepare them to be future ready.
Birchwood School students learned about rhythm patterns and how to manipulate the sound of a drum during a Path To Rhythm assembly. This interactive, hands-on-learning experience was a great way for them to discover new skills, while reinforcing their sense of community and school spirit.
