The Cardinal Letter
October 2, 2024
Message from Principal Goodman
Parents and Guardians~
The 24-25 school year is off to a great start. Our students and staff have fell into a daily routine with their academic courses and co-curricular activities. Last week, homecoming week was filled with cardinal pride. It was a joy to see each grade level engage in teamwork to compete and show their school spirit.
This week marks our mid-quarter progress reports for our quarter classes. We encourage you to join us for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 9th. In addition to meeting with teachers to discuss your child's progress, we are excited to feature a special panel of high school students who will be sharing their experiences in the Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program. These students will talk about the valuable skills they are gaining through their placements, how the program has positively impacted their education, and how other students can get involved. If your child is interested in YA, this is a great opportunity to learn how to sign up. Don’t miss this informative offering starting at 6:00-6:30 pm in the high school auditorium.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your student's educational journey,
Mrs. Goodman
Principal of Chippewa Falls Senior High School

We are excited to announce an important presentation for our high school students titled “I Choose My Future: One Pill Can Kill,” led by DEA Agent Greg Czaczkowski. This event will be held during Red Ribbon Week at our high school on October 23 from 3:05 pm to 3:50 pm.
Red Ribbon Week emphasizes the importance of living a drug-free life, and the DEA’s One Pill Can Kill campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeit prescription drugs. This presentation will cover the risks associated with alcohol and drug use while encouraging our youth to make safe, healthy choices. We believe this informative session will be valuable in guiding our students toward better decision-making and fostering a drug-free environment.
Additionally, the Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) invites you to a free community event titled “One Pill Can Kill,” occurring on the evening of October 23, from 6-8 PM, at the Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Parents, guardians, and community members are encouraged to attend to hear Agent Czaczkowski’s presentation for adults and learn about the dangers of substance use today. This is a valuable opportunity to gather information and resources to help keep our youth and community safe.
Thank you for your support in promoting a safe and healthy community.

- Press 2 for Attendance Options (listen for the prompt)
- If your student will be arriving late or needs to leave early: Press 1
- To report or excuse an absence: Press 2
Regular student attendance is required by law (State Statute 118.16) and is essential if students are to make satisfactory progress in school. Students are required to attend all class periods. It is the responsibility of the student and the parent to see that the student attends school each day school is in session. Excused absences include: illness or injury; medical, legal, DMV, or military appointments, college visits, funerals, school-related activities including sporting or competitive events and field trips, family vacations (please notify the school in advance), and family emergencies.
Please remember that if your student will be gone for an appointment during the school day that they are bringing in a medical note indicating that their absence was due to an appointment.
Additionally, if your student has been absent from school for more than 10 days. Please read through this paragraph pulled from the student handbook:
MEDICAL EXCUSE REQUIREMENT: Excessive student absences may result in the student being placed “On Medical”. Parents will receive a letter notifying them that their student has been placed “On Medical” and all future illness-related absences may require a medical excuse from a physician.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: Any absence that is not cleared by a parent or guardian within 5 school days of the absence (the day of the absence and 4 additional school days) may be listed permanently as unexcused, which will generate a major behavior referral.
For further attendance information please see the Student/Parent Handbook page 6.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions!
