Girls Basketball State Title Game

Monday, March 10, 2025
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Community,
For the first time in 31 years, our Varsity Basketball Shoregals are headed to the State Championship game this Friday!
After an awesome victory yesterday afternoon in the state semi-final matchup, our very own Varsity Basketball Shoregals have advanced to the State Championship game, which will take place this Friday, March 14th at 1 p.m., at the University of Dayton Arena (1801 S Edwin Moses Blvd, Dayton OH 45417). We want to support our Shoregals as best as possible, and so this Thursday, March 13th at 9 a.m., we are asking our community to line Route 83 (Avon-Belden Road), at the southwest corner of the High School and Avon Belden Road, headed south to Walker Rd. Let’s give them the send-off they deserve for their amazing accomplishment! Please let friends and neighbors know to line Route 83 at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning!
Ticket and Spirit Bus Information
The ALCS will be sending Spirit Buses to and from the game, but those individuals must register to attend, and seats are limited. Cost is $25, and includes transportation to and from the game, a ticket, and a T-shirt to wear during the game to support our Shoregals! Use this link to register and attend!
Per the Ohio High School Athletic Association, tickets will go on sale to the general public with a presale option (code is XSBZJ) and a general public option beginning today. Once the presale option has been filled, the code will be invalidated, and you will need to purchase general public tickets. Use this link to purchase tickets if you cannot participate on the Spirit Bus.
Additionally on Friday, March 14th, 450 of our High School students will be performing in the OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) District contest. We are very fortunate to have so many talented students in our district who get to compete at all levels of State competitions. Unfortunately, many of these events take place at the same time and school districts have very little control over the final scheduling, and since the ALCS wants to be supportive to all of our students, we will be canceling school at the HIGH SCHOOL ONLY on Friday, March 14th and we will be giving an excused absence to ANY student (Pk-8) whose parents plan to sign them out to attend either the State Championship or the OMEA competition. All of our High School students who are competing in OMEA, should plan to attend your scheduled rehearsal time at the High School on Friday.
Congratulations Shoregals! All the best as you prepare this week…and let’s go win a State Championship game this Friday! And best of luck to our students at OMEA!
GO SHOREGALS!
