September 13, 2024
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Community!
Happy Friday to our school family, and a special shout out to everyone, including students, staff, parents, family members, and our extended family for making our school days exciting, meaningful, and fun! There’s great energy in our district right now!
Congratulations to Our National Merit Students!
Congratulations goes out to ALHS student Michael O’Brien, who was named a National Merit Semi-Finalist just this past week! With this recognition, Michael places himself among the top 16,000 students in the entire nation! That’s among the top 1% of all high school students! We wish him well as he continues in the National Merit competition and congratulate him and his family on this high achievement! Congratulations also goes out to Cadence Laufer, Ava Molina, and Nila Sparks, who received the Commended Recognition from National Merit. These students are truly excelling, and we give them our highest recognition!
Reappraisal Video with Treasurer Autumn Reed
ALCS Treasurer Autumn Reed has recently posted an informative video regarding Lorain County reappraisals and their impact on citizens in our community. The purpose of sharing this video is to provide information, demonstrate responsiveness, and do as much as we can as a school district to educate our community. Please be sure to click the nearby link and watch this video!
Spirit Week and Homecoming September 16th – September 20th
Homecoming Week is here, and at no other time during the fall season are the spirits, school pride, and excitement on full display throughout our Avon Lake City Schools. At various buildings, including the High School and Learwood MS, the days are aligned with various themes, so please see the graphics for each nearby. Our Homecoming Game will take place at home next Friday night at 7 p.m. versus Midview, and during which our Court will be introduced and King and Queen announced. The very next day, Homecoming festivities continue with our annual parade at 10:30 a.m. and the Homecoming Dance, which begins at 7 p.m. Let’s come together and do everything we can to support our students and make this as special, safe, and successful a Homecoming Week as possible. Thanks all!
