CASH Students Attend Leadership Conference
Several 12th grade students traveled to Upper Merion High School for the engaging and informative “Don’t Fight Back, Fight Forward” High School Leadership Conference sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and the enthusiastic company, CoolSpeak. CASH students in attendance along with Mrs. Nicole Jordan and Mrs. Amy Pascoe included: Camille Boyd, Josh Davis, Hayden Katzor, Akia Muhammad, Delaney Susi, Alivia Thomas, and Julia Woznicki.
Coatesville representatives joined youth from the tri-state area to hear inspirational speaker and author, Carlos Ojeda Jr., fondly known as “Chu.” The message “Don’t Fight Back, Fight Forward,” allows one to focus on their goals, not to waste time “getting even,” to turn negative situations into opportunities for learning and growth, and finally, choosing to respond proactively instead of becoming defensive. All effective strategies for success in high school and life.
MLK Presentation
Through our partnership with Chester County Futures, an assembly was held at CAIHS to honor Dr. MLK and his commitment to service. This explored local community organizations, the supports they offer to our community, and the ways students can participate in service opportunities within the community.
The Bridge Academy, Chester County Food Bank, Safe Harbor of Chester County, and the Coatesville YMCA were represented, as well as Chester County Futures.
As a culminating activity, students were asked to write a brief positive note that will be included with Meals on Wheels deliveries throughout the community.
We thank all of our community partners for their participation in this great event!

February's Students of the Month
Congratulations to Brayden Leach and Sydney Wilkins! Both students had multiple staff members nominate them and vote for them. Here are some of the wonderful things that staff had to say about them.
Brayden: Brayden is always going above and beyond to be kind and helpful to others and try his best in his classwork EVERY DAY.
Sydney: She works hard in my class, is friendly, tries to get her peers on track.
Both students are hard workers and show respectful behaviors daily. They have had a wonderful first half of the school year academically as well, and we are so proud of them! Keep up the great work!
PBIS Door Decorating Contest
As a review of our PBIS expectations: Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness, and Safety, students and staff were challenged to a door decorating contest. Each WIN class worked together to create a door around one of our character traits. Our Related Arts teachers judged the doors on theme, creativity, craftsmanship and appeal. The winners were announced on Friday. Congratulations to Mrs. Fisher's Kindness door, Mrs. Fogg's Courage door, and Ms. Taylor's Respect door. Each of their WIN classes were treated to Philadelphia Pretzel Factory pretzels during WIN. Great work everyone!

Mystery Reader
Mrs. Miller's class had a special Mystery Reader for Read Across America Week, Dr. Rybarczyk. He read "Bear Wants More." The class loved it and were fully engaged.
King's Highway
Read-A-Thon
King's Highway staff and students kicked off our Read-A-Thon with a school-wide assembly and a game of "The Masked Reader." King's Highway staff dressed up in costumes to disguise themselves from students. Ms. Chanudet (King's Highway reading specialist) and Mr. Graham read clues to students and fielded guesses. After a brief dance around the stage and some think time, the masked readers revealed their identity! All this fun was to start the King's Highway Read-A-Thon, an event that celebrates students reading more. Students will log their reading minutes from Monday the third through the 12th and compete for a class reward. The class that logs the most minutes will earn a special party as a reward.
