The Eagle Edition
Edison Elementary ~ September 2023
Note from the Principals
We've had a wonderful start to the 2023-2024 school year at Edison! We named our eagle mascot "Eddie", reviewed school PBIS expectations, developed classroom routines, and then jumped right into learning!
We would like to welcome all of our new Edison families. We hope you and your child(ren) have adjusted smoothly. Please reach out to our school office with any questions. For our returning families, please remember to complete the Returning Registration forms if you have not already done so. It is extremely important that we have updated medical and emergency contact information.
Our staff is excited that we GET TO do the important work of educating your children! We have been inspired by our summer reading of the book The Energy Bus and will be focusing on the positive things happening throughout the school and district. We look forward to sharing those with you!

Raptor Kiosk System
The district has installed the Raptor Kiosk System to screen visitors in order to secure the building for our students and staff members.
The district has installed a new Raptor kiosk system in the bullpen/vestibule of all main entrances of our buildings. When a visitor is making a first time visit to the school, they will have to check in at the main office first and they must have their driver's license so that it can be scanned into the system and verified. On subsequent visits, visitors check in at the kiosk in the vestibule by scanning their driver's license. They can then report to the main office to receive their visitor's badge.
The kiosks were purchased with Ohio Facilities Construction Commission Safety Grant funds.
Food Services Policy & Free and Reduced Lunch
The Food Services Department ensures that its operations are following the federal guidelines for operating the nutrition program. Federal guidelines prohibit the district’s Food and Nutrition Department from writing off bad debt as a result of charged meals. Please review the Food Services Policy Regarding Meal Accounts.
The deadline for submitting the Free and Reduced Meal Application is September 30, 2023. Please review this Free and Reduced Meal Application Deadline.
Crossroads - District Message
If you believe your child is experiencing challenges in terms of their mental well-being, it is important to reach out to your principal. To meet your child’s needs, it’s essential to collaborate with the principal and school personnel to explore resources and services available at school. In addition to Crossroads Counselors, the District also has family liaisons and guidance counselors who can provide needed interventions and support. (At Edison we have a full time Family Liaison, Mrs. Kenzie Hanlon.)
If you would like to opt out of Crossroads support, please complete and return this form.
Community Activities
Are you looking for activities for your children? Interested in family programs in the community? There are so many options for Willoughby-Eastlake families, such as city departments of recreation, sports teams, scouting, camps and special events in all of our surrounding communities, plus so much more!

To access the flyers, visit the COMMUNITY link on the district and building website pages Community Activities Flyers
