This week we celebrated two very special occasions. On Monday we honored those who served our country in the armed forces. We were able to share photographs in our main hallway and watched as students carefully studied the pictures for teachers, family members or friends who sacrificed for our country. Kindergarten got to experience first hand, a visit from Mr. Joseph Oliveri, who served our country. Mr. Oliveri is a Navy veteran and a father to one of our amazing Kindergarten students. During his time, he discussed the different branches of the service. He also shared the amazing places he visited and things he saw as an enlisted serviceman. All students were engaged as they learned about the many different jobs you can have in the military. On behalf of Middlebrook, we thank Mr. Oliveri for his service and time he gave to our school. On the 13th of November, we celebrated World Kindness Day, which originated in 1998. This day is meant to remind us to be kind to others and make a positive difference in the world. All across the school, students created flowers to display on their lockers sending positive vibes to classmates. We also hung a "Be the I in Kind" mural in the hallway for photo opportunities! Over the weekend, please continue to extend kindness by giving extra hugs, helping a neighbor or possibly creating a mural with sidewalk chalk for all to enjoy.

Announcing the first Middlebrook Elementary School Scripps Spelling Bee! Students in Grades 3-5 are invited to participate in this wonderful event. Each child has received a permission slip from their homeroom teachers. Please read carefully for deadlines and get ready to show off your sensational spelling! We are thrilled to bring this event to our school.

Our students love our interactive math board in the hallway. We often find students stopping on their way to class to solve or discuss a problem. We love witnessing their mathematical thinking!

Introducing our spectacular Grade 1 team: Mrs. Russo, Ms. Ekstrom and Ms. Velazquez. Mrs. Russo loves spending time with her husband and two children, Ryan (9) and Trey (5). One time she went ziplining with Mr. Russo through the rainforest of Costa Rica. During Ms. Ekstrom's free time she enjoys family and being outdoors. She has even had the opportunity to ride an elephant! Finally, Ms. Velazquez was on the fencing team in high school and worked at the Museum of Natural History. She enjoys vintage shopping and dancing.

The Middlebrook PTA Believe/Otis Spunkmeyer Fundraiser Pickup will occur Friday November 22nd from 3:30pm to 5pm at Middlebrook Elementary School cafe.

If you placed an order through our Believe/Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser for pickup or with any frozen food items, please plan accordingly to get your items as they need to be placed in a freezer as soon as possible. We are not responsible for any items/ products that are not picked up during the pickup time frame!
