It is Halloween! I won't write a big intro because you are all busy today, but thanks for taking the time to look at the newsletter!

Grade Level Announcements

Grades

Today is the last day to turn in any missing or redos. Reports cards should be mailed home next Friday, November 8. But you should be able to see up to date grades on PowerSchool anytime!

Students are starting with a clean slate for the second quarter. Check in with your student and make sure they are setting themselves up for success!

Classroom Reminders

ELA - Mr. Gaddy

Greetings All, As the first marking period comes to a close I have to quick announcements. Firstly, the students have been wrapping up their essays this week. Because I want to ensure that all students have an opportunity to make revisions to their writing should it be needed, the introduction paragraph grade will be included in their marking period one Language Arts score, but their body and conclusion paragraphs will be the first scores on marking period two. Secondly, several students have turned in assignments from earlier in the marking period that were either missing or have now been revised. I am in the process of going through them, and they will be included in marking period one grades before they are locked in for report cards. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am always available to communicate. - Mr. Gaddy

Science - Ms. Smith

We are finishing up our UNIT involving sedimentary rocks, rock layers, and fossils. Our TEST will take place next week November 5. Click the links below for a study guides. Students will be able to check their work on their study guide in class when it is complete. After our test, we will start our unit talking about inner Earth, volcanoes, and plate tectonics. US History - Mr. Buniewicz

Next week, we have a quiz on our Unit on the Articles of Confederation! The study guide has been completed in class and is hopefully going home. Ten minutes of studying daily over the weekend and next week will help students succeed on the assessment!

Math - Mrs. Wilkins

Pre-Algebra: Mixed Review Test Thursday then on to One and Two-Step Equations. Algebra: Continue with Linear Equations - Slope Intercept Form, Parallel Lines, & Perpendicular Lines.

Art - Ms. Eichler

The kids had a blast celebrating Halloween all week with fun Halloween crafts and decorations. When we get back from break we will be starting a fresh new art work based on using Contrast in their artwork.

Sustainable Science - Ms. Smith

Students made caramelized apples this week, continued to work on their sewing projects and completed Week 4 of our healthy cooking unit. Great job this week!

Spanish - Mrs. Acosta

8th grade is reviewing class objects with colors (how to say “red chair”) and we will be starting our unit on physical traits.

Choir - Mr. Evans

7th and 8th grade choir will perform for the senior luncheon at the Rock on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:45 until about noon. Singers should plan to wear their best school clothes.
