Battle Creek Quick Updates
Greetings Battle Creek Families,
This is our final parent newsletter for the year! There are only six days of school left for our students. Our 8th graders got promoted to high school today in a grand send off. It was a great event and even greater turn out! Our families are truly the best at supporting our students and it shows when there’s a full house of families gathered together to help us level up our students. The energy was electric.
With that, we are down to our last few student trips and activities. On Monday, June 3, language academy students will have an annual picnic at Battle Creek Park. Remind students to wear comfortable shoes for this walking field trip.
Our Thursday, June 6, 6th graders will be going to the Capitol as their end-of-the-year field trip.
On Friday, June 7, 7th and 8th graders will be going to Valleyfair. If your student is planning on going, they need to get their permission slip and money in to Mr. Henning.
On Monday, June 10 (last day of school), we will have an alternate schedule to free up the afternoon for students to have a field day. They do not need to bring anything on this day. No backpacks, iPads, pencils or notebooks. They are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and light clothing.
Remind your student to take everything home by the end of next week. We will have a final locker clean out on Wednesday, June 5. Anything that is left in lockers over the Summer will be tossed, recycled, or donated.
Before we send off our students for the Summer, we want to say thank you to our awesome parents, guardians, and families for your support throughout this year. We appreciate the home to school partnership. We could not have had such a successful year without your love and support. For our families with students returning to Battle Creek, we look forward to seeing you at our Fall Open House. For families with students moving on to high school, thank you for trusting us with your children. We hope we have educated, motivated, inspired, and prepared them for high school and beyond.
Have a safe and restful Summer.

Mr. Gwin's Mastery Award
The Mastery Award is for those who score 100% on the unit exam. Here are some characteristics of these scholars: they pay attention to detail, prepare well throughout the unit, ask many questions, have discourse (explain to and quiz each other), and finally they execute well on quiz day! Fifteen (15) scholars exhibit this behavior, yeah!
