Opening Message From Dr. Galusi
Dear MPS Families and Caregivers,
Ahead of Sunday, I would like to wish all the mothers, grandmothers and guardians in our MPS community a Happy Mothers Day. Your dedication, care and tireless support help shape the character of our students and and improve our school communities. Being a mother to my two daughters has been the greatest blessing of my life, and I know I am surrounded by so many strong and powerful moms in our Medford Community.
This past week was full of festivity and fun as we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week! Everyone from our teachers, educators, paraprofessionals, administrators, nurses, councilors, support staff, coaches, mentors, custodians, security and cafeteria staff work tirelessly everyday to support our students. Special thank you to our PTOs, parent organizations, local businesses and community volunteers for going above and beyond to celebrate the tremendous efforts of our staff!
Sincerely,
Dr. Suzanne B. Galusi
Upcoming Music and Art Shows
Join us this month at our MPS Spring Concert Series!
Our Orchestra and Band students are thrilled to perform in front of our greater Medford community this month, beginning with our Grade 6-12 Orchestra next Thursday. All shows will be held at the Medford High School Caron Theater for $5. We look forward to seeing our student showcase their talents on stage!
Throughout the rest of the school year, our Arts students will display their beautiful work throughout Medford! While many of our school communities will be hosting their art galleries at their school this month, the Arts Collaborative Medford will house the work of our AP, Adaptive Arts, and other high school students. Visit the Arts Collaborative Medford from May 30 - June 27 to see the beautiful gallery.
Additionally, the Medford Public Library will be hosting events to further support the Arts here in Medford. All entries in the annual MHS photo contest will be on display this month in the library’s second-floor gallery. Later this summer, the Library will also host high school summer arts workshops! These week-long workshops will provide students with invaluable opportunities to grow creatively, build technical skills, and connect with a community of like-minded peers. Visit Here to learn more.
Italian Students Finish 2nd In Local Competition
I’d like to congratulate our Medford High School Italian program for winning second place in the Giornata dell’Italiano hosted at Northeastern University.
Led by their teachers Ms. Chalifoux, Ms. Canetta, and Dr. Bibeau, students from Italian classes III, IV, and AP joined together to create a skit and presentation based on the book Dietro al Sorriso by Tanya Ferretto. Our students mastered all of their components of the skit and delivered it confidently to a panel of judges, including Prof. Ferretto herself.
Medford High School alumnae Lang Cheng, a current Masters student at Northeastern, even made a surprise appearance at the event to support our current students and reconnect with her former teachers. Our students had a great experience at the event and are excited to return next year for the 11th annual of La Giornata dell’Italiano!
disAbility Fair To Be Held on Saturday, May 10
The Medford Commission for Persons with Disabilities will be hosting the 2025 disAbility Fair next Saturday, May 10 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the McGlynn School Complex!

Humanities Department Recaps Their Winter & Spring
As we head into the home stretch of the year, our staff across MPS continues to be impressed with the dedication our students are showing in the classroom. It gets more tempting to look outside and daydream about the summer, but our students are staying focused and ensuring they're finishing the year on a high note!
To recap the last few months of the school year, our Humanities Department has released their latest newsletter. The Humanities Department, which primarily encompasses our English Language Arts and Social Studies, has continued creating opportunities for students to use their skills to impact their communities.
