Our 4th & 5th grade students will begin learning/review recorder skills starting this month!

• All 4th grade students will need to purchase a recorder from Mrs. Schieffer. More information regarding recorder purchase will be sent home soon!
• All 5th grade students should bring their recorders from last year back to school as soon as possible!

• February 11 - Hawk Harmonizers perform at Multicultural Night
• April - 1st Grade Spring Concert
• May - Talent Show

Your students visit music once a week for 60 minutes. For the next 9 weeks of class, we will be covering the following topics:

• 1st Grade:
• Beat vs. Rhythm; Quarter Note, Eighth Notes, Rest; Sol-Mi; 2-line staff
• 2nd Grade:
• 4-beat Meter; Time Signature; Brass Family; Woodwind Family; Mi-Re-Do; Staff

• 3rd Grade:
• Pentatonic Scale; Staff; High Do; 4-16th notes; 3-beat Meter; Rondo Form; Folk Dance
• 4th Grade:
• Low Sol; Low La; La Pentatonic; Absolute Pitch; Recorder; Folk Dance
• 5th Grade:
• Functional Harmony; Tempo (largo, moderato, presto); Theme & Variations; Recorder
