Discussion Points
Staff Appreciation Week is going very well! The staff was very excited about all of the special gifts they received. The massages were very well received and we will definitely book that again for next year. The staff has really enjoyed the snack cart. The smoothie breakfast was a hit!Spring into Kindergarten will be on 5/14. This is for all incoming kindergarteners who are currently registered. This is an opportunity for the children to come visit the playground, meet some friends, and meet the teachers. All incoming students attending will receive a book, a Makefield water bottle and pencils. Tshirts will be on sale for $12.
Mini Thon has been changed to 5/15. There will be no sign ups for volunteers this year. The event has been changed to a 30 minute session during the students recess period. Lucky ducks will be on sale for $2 and ring pops for $1 next week in Congress Hall. All money raised goes to Four Diamonds and the fight to conquer childhood cancer.
Donuts with grownups has been rescheduled for 5/16. We are not able to order any new donuts. If you are not able to attend and previously ordered donuts, we can send your donuts home with your child or you can receive a voucher from Piazzas.
Field Day is scheduled for 5/30. We are looking for a few more volunteers. This is a fun whole school event. Spectators are welcome to attend the event. All volunteers that are signed up to run an activity must have clearances.
School supplies will be on sale next week. You can purchase the box of supplies for the 2025/2026 school year. The information about school supplies and the link to make your purchase is in the backpack email and on Facebook.
End of Year Parties will have limited volunteers this year. All volunteers must have clearances.
Year books are being sent to the printer this week. For anyone who did not purchase a year book in advance, you may purchase one later in the year for $25.
Artist and Author Night will be held on 6/4. All students will have one piece of art work on display. The students bare books will be on display outside their classroom.
Trenton Thunder tickets are currently on sale. The game is 6/8 at 1pm. Tickets are $12 and they are on sale until 5/23.
Senior Clap Out will be on 6/12. This is an event for all graduating seniors who attended Makefield. The event is at 2:15pm. Please share this event with any seniors that attended Makefield!
We are looking for more volunteers for next year. If you are not currently involved at Makefield and would like to find ways to help out, please let one of the board members know.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:46pm
As we begin to head into the last marking period of the year we have lots of fun things ahead that will require volunteer clearances in order for parents/guardians to participate. Things like Mini-THON, field trips, field day and end of the year celebrations all require clearances.
If you have not yet done your clearances or they have expired we highly suggest getting them done sooner rather than later so you do not miss out on any of these opportunities.
You can visit the Volunteers Newsletter which includes links to the Pennsbury website, Volunteer Tracker Portal and Volunteer Affirmation Form along with a FAQ section to answer your questions.
If at anytime you have questions regarding clearances or to check your status please email me at mjohnson@pennsburysd.org.
Join us in the Learning Garden! Volunteers must have clearances on file in the office. See the Sign Up Genius for all the details:

Makefield Community Outreach
Dear Makefield Families,
Makefield Community Outreach (formally known as the Sunshine Committee) would like to take a moment to let you know more about what we do. This program is sponsored by the MESPTO and has a mission to support teachers, students, and their families to ensure that the entire Makefield community has what they need to be successful in school. In order to reach our entire school community we would like to take this time to describe the resources that we have available this fall and winter. We will reach out again in the spring with more information about future opportunities.
If you would like to use any of the options below, please reach out to Colleen Wierzbowski cwierzbowski@pennsburysd.org. To respect the privacy of all of our community members, Colleen will be the only one to receive emails and requests. The committee will fulfill her requests, but will never know who the resources are going to.
In the Fall and throughout the year we provide:
Teachers with Back to School Gift Cards to help set up their classrooms
The Nurse with new clothes for days when kids might need to change
Daily Snacks for each classroom like pretzels or animal crackers for days when kids forget
Halloween costumes
Books for reading at home
Back to school supplies
Vouchers for Oktoberfest
Vouchers for Thanksgiving pies
