Seniors,
Consider your next step a DIRECTION, not a destination. Only 40% of adults have jobs in their college major. Use the next decade to learn more about who you are and how you want to show up in the world. Join the military. Take a gap year or go to college. There are so many options. Just choose something and get started. You can adjust along the way.
Below are several opportunities for you to consider. If you have any questions, make an appointment with your Career Pathways counselor to chat:

SUMMER HEALTHCARE INTERNSHIP- 2024
This is a GREAT opportunity for you to explore careers in
healthcare, especially if you don't know what type of
healthcare job you want!
This program brings students and health care employers together, providing students experience in a health care environment and the opportunity to meet future health care professionals.
Details:
- Students must have completed junior or senior year of high school by the end of this term
- Students can choose to work in one department or rotate through various departments, as determined by the host site
- Students will be paid at least minimum wage (often more)
- Internship dates: Early June to late August
- Application closes Friday, April 19

WHEN: Part and full-time work is available
WAGES: $16.84 - $18.16 per hour, plus benefits

PAID INTERNSHIPS - HEALTHCARE
The PAID summer internships at Lakeview Hospital are back!!!
The following are available:
- PHARMACY INTERN
- REHABILITATION INTERN (think Physical Therapy)
WHO: Students ages 16+; especially if you have completed coursework in chemistry, anatomy & physiology, genetics, biology or 916 Career & Tech Medical Careers
WHEN: 20 hours/week for 12 weeks; begins in June
WHERE: Lakeview Hospital, Stillwater, MN
OTHER: You will want to get a letter of recommendation from a teacher or other person who can speak to your sincere interest in healthcare and/or science. Also, I don't see a close date but I would apply early!

A gap year can be an excellent option for those who aren't sure they are ready for college or want to have other adventures first. It can also help some determine what type of training is best for them.

SUPPORT BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL
Your county's Youth Workforce Centers are available to you until age 24. After that, you can use your county's regular Workforce Center. All of this is F R E E to you at anytime, in any county. Access them for help with:
- preparing for employment (resumes, interviews, clothing, etc.)
- obtaining a driver's license and using public transportation
- learn and earn (apprenticeship) positions
- training
- removing barriers
