Celebrating Lotus Academy Interns: Ms. Laney & Ms. Ellie
On Sunday, May 25, 2025, CCPS alumni Delaney Haislop (Ms. Laney) and Elizabeth Jones (Ms. Ellie) graduated with their Bachelor's from Randolph-Macon College. These remarkable young women were the first interns at Lotus Academy, where they initiated and completed a meaningful field study project as part of their academic experience.
Throughout their 8+ week internship, Laney and Ellie worked with over 20 students, leading Social and Emotional Learning sessions and forming strong, lasting relationships with both students and staff. Their presence and contributions made a lasting impact on the Lotus community.
Dr. White and Mr. Clinkscales were honored to attend their graduation ceremony and celebrate this milestone alongside them. CCPS looks forward to building on this partnership and collaborating with Randolph-Macon College faculty to continue providing meaningful internship experiences—ones that benefit both Lotus Academy students and aspiring professionals.

Every Senior Credentialed: A Victory Worth Celebrating
As the school year draws to a close, we’re thrilled to share an incredible achievement: every single one of our seniors has earned their CTE industry credential. Whether through the Workplace Readiness Skills, W!SE Financial Literacy, Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) exams, NCCER Core, ServSafe Manager, ASVAB, or a Work-Based Learning (WBL) experience—our students rose to the challenge and crossed the finish line.
It came down to the wire, but their determination, supported by the dedication of our staff, made it possible. This is a major milestone not just for our seniors, but for our entire school community. These credentials aren’t just boxes to check—they open doors to career opportunities, build confidence, and serve as meaningful indicators of real-world readiness.
Looking ahead, we’re already planning for the future. Our goal is to ensure that every student enters their senior year with their credential already secured, giving them more room to focus on postsecondary planning, capstone projects, and building career momentum.
We’re also exploring new credentialing options and refining our systems to be even more intentional in preparing students for success beyond graduation.
This is a moment to celebrate, to reflect, and to recharge our efforts. We are incredibly proud of our seniors—and of the teachers, counselors, and families who helped them reach this milestone. Here’s to continued success and a future full of possibility!
