Noon Message to Families
December 9, 2024
Cedar Hill ISD Families & Community,
Happy Holidays!
Let's Finish Strong and ON TIME!
Please note that under Texas Education Code Section 25.085, students are required to attend school each day for the entire period the program of instruction is provided. Regular attendance is essential for your child's educational progress and is mandated by state law.
Here are a few tips to help with morning routines:
- Prepare the night before: Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, and prepare lunches.
- Set a consistent bedtime: Ensure your child gets enough sleep to wake up refreshed.
- Establish a morning routine: Create a schedule that allows for a calm and timely departure.
As we approach the Holiday Break, we will take a moment to count our blessings -- family, faith and a future that looks promising for scholars, staff and citizens alike.
Horns Up!

New Panels are Devices for Every Longhorn
Thanks to Proposition B, every Cedar Hill ISD student now has a new Chromebook, which was delivered in September. Additionally, interactive panels and document cameras have been purchased for each classroom. All document cameras have arrived and been delivered to campuses, and the installation of interactive panels is complete. Teachers are also receiving their new laptops!
Devices funded through an approved bond are paid for using short-term bonds, typically repaid within 3 to 5 years.

Holiday Health Tips from CHISD Health Services Department
Holiday Health Tips from Nurse Morris
Winter break is a time to rest, refocus and spend time with family and loved ones. So what can you do to stay healthy this winter?
Drink water
It is important that we stay hydrated throughout the dry winter months. Winter may be a good time for hot cocoa and cider, but always make water your drink of choice. A glass of water with and between each meal can keep you hydrated, healthy and ready to fight off any germs winter may bring.
Eat a Balanced Diet
While it’s always fun to eat fun and delicious holiday food, it’s important to try and incorporate a variety of food groups and healthy options into those special meals, offering your children essential nutrients to keep them energized and satisfied during all the celebrations.
Stress less.
Make time for friends, family and good cheer, and embrace relaxation when you can. Take advantage of the mental health partners available for CHISD staff, families and students. You can find the list here.
Sleep enough.
Make sure you are getting enough sleep.
Don't neglect the value of sleep. Do all that you can to stick to your typical sleep schedule, even around all the celebrations and traveling.
Remember to always Dress warmly.
Remember headwear that fully covers your ears, pull on well-insulated socks when dressing for the weather. Instead of wearing one big coat, dress in several layers of loose, warm clothing. This will better protect you against any wind and rain.
Exercise Run and Play
Keep Active! Physical health among children is important. While colder weather can limit outdoor activities, it is still important to encourage physical activity. Remember too many layers can make your overheat, so choose layers you can easily remove.
Keep the germs away.
Three words: Wash your hands. This is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading common winter illnesses, such as colds. Germs accumulate through nearly everything you do or touch, so wash your hands frequently. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, scrubbing all surfaces and rinsing well.
Disinfect High-Touch Surfaces
Before hosting or attending any gatherings, be sure to pay attention to high-tough surfaces. Supplies, like disinfecting wipes, can kill up to 99.9% of bacteria from high-touch surfaces like doorknobs and remotes when used as directed.
*Remember these key points
● Cover coughs and sneezes when around others to help protect them.
● Stay away from others who are sick, if possible.
● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread easily this way.
● Handwash often , using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when soap and water is not available
● Viral particles in the air spread between people more easily indoors than outdoors. Any way you can improve air quality, such as opening windows or using air purifiers, can help reduce the amount of virus you are exposed to.
If you are sick, stay home to avoid putting others at risk. You should also avoid others in the household to lessen their risk. If you have severe or worsening symptoms, call your healthcare provider.
Let’s have a healthy happy break,
