WALKING WEDNESDAY
TOMORROW IS THE LAST WALKING WEDNESDAY IN OCTOBER
And... there will be only one Walking Wednesday in November - on November 1st. Come join us. Walking to school with a group is a great social experience and it will give you a healthy start to the day. Most of us don't get enough daily exercise. These walks to school can help us feel good and help us reduce our contribution to global warming.
PICTURES & NEWS
FIREMAN NATE VISITED THE YOUNGEST STUDENTS ON MONDAY
Every year, Mr. Nate Bachand finds time to come up to St. Albans City School with the large St. Albans Town firet truck for a series of show-and-tell session. He starts by meeting kids in their classrooms where he talks them through the process of putting on his fire protection gear. For the youngest kids he can look a bit scary in his oxygen mask, massive coat and boots. So, Nate takes his time accommodating them to his change in appearance while giving them advice on what to do if he ever came to their home to help them escape fire. Following the classroom experience, Nate then takes the students out for chances to climb into the cabin of the truck and marvel at all the gear and buttons. For most kids this is a wonderful and exciting experience.

FRANKLIN COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Words of appreciation need to go to all the runners that showed up to compete in the Franklin County Championships on Saturday the 21st. It was very wet and breezy as the athletes traversed the hilly Fairfield 3000 meter (almost 2 mile) course in the rain. All the runners from that day have reason to be proud of their performance but no more so than a SACS 5th grader from Team Discovery. She won the girls' race outright, a race that included students through grade 8. Check out the photos from the event which will show just how messy a day it was.
