Message from the Principal, Dr. Sterling H. Seemans
Springer Families
We hope this letter finds you and your family enjoying a restful and enjoyable summer. As the end of summer approaches, we are excited to welcome you back to another wonderful year at Springer Middle School!
Our team of administrators, teachers, and staff have been working diligently to prepare for the year ahead, and we are enthusiastic about the opportunities that await our Bulldog students. This year promises to be filled with engaging learning experiences, new discoveries, and opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Here are a few key updates to help you prepare for the start of the school year:
1. First Day of School:
The first day of school for 6th graders only is Monday, August 26. All students will report on Tuesday, August 27. Doors open at 7:55am and dismissal will be at 2:55pm. Please ensure that your child arrives on time as prompt and regular attendance will be one of the focal points for Springer Middle School this year.
2. Back To School Night:
We invite you to join us for our “Back To School” event on Wednesday, August 21 from 5pm to 7pm. There will be a “New Student Orientation” from 4pm-5pm on that same day. Our “New Student Orientation” is specifically designed for our incoming 6th graders and any student who is new to Springer Middle School this year. This is a great opportunity to meet some of our staff, tour the classrooms, and get acquainted with the school community. Our Springer Family Association will be there as well enrolling new members and selling Springer apparel. We are also hopeful we will be able to distribute student schedules this night as well!
3. Important Documents:
Please check your email, our newsletter, and our school website for important documents and forms that need to be completed at the beginning of the school year. This includes updates to contact information, emergency forms, any necessary health records, and our DIAA sports physical form which is required for all students who wish to try out for a sport this upcoming school year.
4. School Supplies:
A list of required school supplies for each grade level is available on our website. We recommend reviewing this list and ensuring your child has everything they need for a successful start to the year. As students come home from their first day of school, it is also wise to review the syllabus with them to ensure all supplies have been obtained. If you are in need of assistance with school supplies (bookbags, pencils, notebooks, etc.) please do not hesitate to contact the main office for assistance.
5. School Calendar and Events:
Our school calendar for the year has been updated on our website. Be sure to review it for important dates, holidays, and events. We encourage you to stay connected and involved in our school community throughout the year through our Springer Family Association who host various events throughout the year.
6. Communication:
We value open and ongoing communication with our families. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you and ensure a positive experience for your child. You will receive a weekly newsletter once the school year starts every Sunday at 2pm. You can also see our daily announcements, which are updated daily here. We also suggest following us on Facebook and Instagram where we regularly post information, pictures, and celebrations at Springer!
We are eager to embark on this new school year with your child and are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. You will here speak to “the village”, which includes all of us and how it takes our “village” to raise these children. Together, we can make this year a memorable and successful one for all our students.
Wishing you a wonderful end to your summer and looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead!
If you have any questions, concerns, or need additional information please do not hesitate to contact me or one of my administrators. We are eager to help.
All The Best,
Dr. Sterling H. Seemans
Principal

BARK Summer Program!
What an incredible time it has been to welcome our incoming 6th graders into Springer Middle School for our BARK Summer Program! The BARK Summer Program! was designed to assist incoming sixth graders with the transition into middle school. BARK Summer Program! was a fun way four our newest Bulldogs to make new friends and learn how to be successful at Springer Middle School. Students learned how to read a middle school rotating schedule, learn what the BARK expectations (Be Respectful, Act Safely, Reach for Excellence, & Kind Actions) look like in various situations. Students met and interacted with current Springer staff, operated locks and lockers, participated in team building and social skill training, navigated the building, and so much more!
Springer Students Create Art Instillation for Koolkkid Sneaker Giveaway
This year, Ms. Levenson, one of our amazing art teachers, did a project with her talented 8th-grade students where they crafted incredible sneakers out of cardboard. This caught the eye of a generous individual who donates sneakers to kids in need to 'kick off' each new school year.
He reached out asked if Ms. Levenson and her students could create a giant sneaker for this year's rally. Always going above and beyond, Ms. Levenson said “Why not a pair!”
This team of amazing artists engineered an 8-foot-long sculpture from cardboard, hot glue, paint, and Tyvek. As you can see the creativity and teamwork displayed were simply phenomenal
A huge shoutout to Ms. Levenson and her Girl Power Group for displaying their amazing talent and hard work with their creation!
Free Breakfast and Lunch for ALL Springer Middle School Students
We are excited to announce that breakfast and lunch will be offered at no charge to ALL students starting in the 2024-2025 school year! We strongly encourage students to take advantage of the amazing food our nutritional staff offers which includes a variety of salads, deli, pizzas, hot items, and vegetarian options. We will also offer breakfast in our cafeteria and a grab-and-go breakfast cart.
Sports Physicals Needed for 2024-2025 School Year
Students interested in participating in a sport next year will need a DIAA sports physical. The summer is a great time to get that done for the year. Please stop by the main office or go to our athletics webpage to download a DIAA sports physical form and schedule an appointment with your pediatrician or head to an urgent care clinic to get a sports physical complete. These are mandatory and need to be updated every year!

Chromebook Repair and Replacement
Students will be taking their Chromebooks home for the Summer. BSD provides Summer work that students can complete over the Summer to help ensure there is minimal to no learning loss. Students and families are responsible for Chromebook replacements and repairs. Please see the cost for replacement and repairs below.
Volunteering at Springer Middle School
Springer Middle School relies on the generosity of time from our great families within the community. We welcome those who want to help be apart of our village and have a plethora of opportunities for volunteers to engage with our students and staff to better the middle school experience of our youth.
