1st Grade Families Stock the HAPPY CART!
It's HAPPY CART TIME! *2nd GRADE FAMILIES*
Hello 1st Grade Families!
Rossman PTO Staff Happy Cart is in an ongoing effort to make our teachers and staff feel loved and cared for this year.
The Happy Cart will be pushed down the halls one morning per month to allow teachers to grab a snack or treat. Each month, a different grade level will be responsible for “stocking” the cart.
This month, 1st GRADE is in charge of stocking the cart! This can be something simple like a box of granola bars, a bag of apples, or a pack of bubbl’r.
Please have your items in to the office by THURSDAY, MARCH 27. Happy Cart deliveries will be made the morning of March 28.
Attached is a sign-up genius for snack, treat, and drink options. If you would like to provide an alternate item, please note what you are bringing.
Thank you for considering supporting this PTO initiative and taking the opportunity to spoil our teachers for all the hard work they put toward our children every day!
Principal Spotlights
We celebrate these students deserving of a PRINCIPAL SPOTLIGHT this week!
Teachers nominate students to be recognized that demonstrate...
Exemplary Character ~ Excellence in the Classroom ~ Leadership Among Peers

Laker Ticket Winners!
Students demonstrating Kind - Safe - Ready expectations might be awarded with a Laker Ticket from a staff member.
Each week, students turn in their Laker Tickets for a chance to be drawn and recognized for their work on meeting expectations.
Congratulations to this week's Laker Ticket Winners pictured below!

Classrooms can receive Laker Way Awards for following Kind - Safe - Ready expectations in different areas of the building.

Next PTO Meeting - April 7, 4:15 PM @ Rossman Collaborative Space
Would YOU like to volunteer for events and activities of the Rossman PTO? Becoming a volunteer is easy and will not require extended time or commitment.
Examples of volunteer help the PTO needs this year:
- Elementary Carnival - March
March - Ojibwe Word of the Month
DLPS - Seven Grandfather Teachings
Detroit Lakes Public Schools American Indian Education Department has provided age-appropriate resources and activities that introduce The Seven Grandfather Teachings at every grade level. Each month celebrates one of the teachings.
Wisdom: nibwaakawin ( nib wah kuh win )
Beaver: amik (uh-mik’)
Wisdom - nibwaakawin
The beaver represents wisdom because he uses his natural gift wisely for his survival. The beaver also alters his environment in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way for the benefit of his family. To cherish knowledge is to know wisdom. Use your inherent gifts wisely and live your life by them. Recognize your differences and those of others in a kind and respectful way. Continuously observe the life of all things around you. Listen with clarity and a sound mind. Respect your own limitations and those of all of your surroundings. Allow yourself to learn and live by your wisdom.

Call the office with messages for your child's teacher during the school day. While teachers use Seesaw and email to send information and communicate, their day is extremely busy and urgent messages through Seesaw/email might not be read in a timely manner. In the event a substitute is teaching the class, that Seesaw/email message will not be seen by the sub. The best way to communicate during the school day is through the school office. Call 218-847-9268
If your student is absent, call the Rossman Office at 218-847-9268 and leave a message on the attendance line. The attendance assistant will call parents if we haven't received a message regarding a student's absence by 9:00 AM.
Visitors are welcome! As a courtesy, please contact your child's teacher to pre-arrange your visit. Teachers love classroom volunteers and parent helpers. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the office or your student's teacher directly. Visitors will be required to sign in and wear a "Visitor" badge while in the building.
Call the Office by 2:30 PM to Change Your Child's Plan

Opportunities for Students and Families
Grades 4-6 Hello Little Laker Elementary Track Families!
We are looking forward to another exciting season of Elementary Track! Here are a few things to know:
Sign up through DLCCC:
www.dlhttps://www.dlccc.org/the-center/
Click on “Classes & Activities”
Then “Sports & Recreation”
Then choose “Spring Sports” & scroll down to Elementary Track Grades 4-6
Practices Mondays & Wednesdays: 4/21/2025-5/07/2025
We start by meeting on the WEST side of the HOME bleachers, away from the concession stand. (We do this to make sure we are not in the way for our Middle School or HS Track programs).
Mini Track & Field Meet: our last practice day. Details TBD.
Our High School athletes help run this fun event, so as the date approaches, we will be sending information home or announcing updates on REMIND.
This is a FOR FUN event. We encourage students to TRY at least 3 events (at least 1 running event would be great!)
Parents: Sign up for updates from coaches on the app REMIND
Goals for Elementary Track & Field:
Introduce kids to track & field events and hopefully grow our future Laker Track & Field teams!
Meet new friends and maybe future running pals!
Most important: to HAVE FUN!
