LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy December Bright Beginnings Families!
Even though December is a short month at school, we have much to continue learning! We look forward to all the winter learning activities we get to do at school. Our December parent meeting and school readiness event always holds lots of festive fun! It will be December 17th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
We still have openings in our 4 year old full day classrooms at Sunnyside. If you know of anyone who is interested, please have them call our office at 620-371-1264 to schedule an application! We would love to get students enrolled and attending before the winter break!
Please continue to follow the arrows on our parking lot for accurate traffic flow. Also, it is very important that you hold your child’s hand as you are arriving or departing. This is to ensure that you are keeping your child safe as they arrive and leave the school.
Wishing you a joyous season!

Preschool Education
Math is everywhere! There are so many ways we practice our math skills every day. Math is a language rich subject too. We talk about numbers…ask how many…we count…we build patterns…we compare measurements and quantities…we measure items…we sort…we identify and match shapes…we use spatial relationships (on, under, below, over, beside, next to, behind, in front of)…and so much more! We are busy people, learning best through play! Ask your child’s teacher for ways to play with math at home.

A child from Mrs. Jadira’s class has put her bear next to her cubes. Another way to say it is the bear is beside the cubes.

Sorting
Some of Mrs. Faye’s children were sorting a mixed pile of toys by color.
Miss Sandy is Retiring
Miss Sandy Halling will be retiring the end of December. She brought so much knowledge and inspiration to our school during the 29 years of service in our school district. Her dedication to cultivating young minds in literacy, providing a love for reading, and having that big caring heart has left an indelible mark on countless students. She always enjoyed participating in the community events and making sure to include our Bright Beginnings bus. She delivered many lunches in the summer to children. She enjoys providing literacy activities for our children to take home. She created the in-kind parent calendars, has provided many fun story times and snack activities to go along with a book for our students. As she embarks on this new chapter, we are deeply grateful for the legacy she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed.
Thank you for all you have done, and may your retirement be filled with joy and adventure.

BRIGHT BEGINNINGS CHILDCARE
Bright Beginnings Childcare
In November our preschool aged children learned about the Five Senses and Teddy Bears. Our infant and toddler classrooms are focusing on the themes “Our Busy Day” and “Talk With Me!”
A reminder for parents, please send appropriate clothing with your child each day. We will be heading outside as long as the weather is appropriate.
Outdoor play is incredibly beneficial for children for several reasons including physical development, cognitive growth, social skills, emotional benefits, and health benefits.
