The WJHS Panther Update
August 23, 2024
Principal's Letter
Greetings Panther Families,
We are off to a fantastic start at WJHS! It’s always a good feeling when everything goes smoothly, especially during the first week. Our Panthers are present, excited and ready to learn!
Remember, being ready for a great school year is about more than just having your supplies or knowing your schedule. It’s about embracing the opportunities to grow, learn, and create memories that will last long after the school year ends.
I-Ready Testing
Students will be I-Ready testing on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Remember, as always, be sure to eat a healthy breakfast and get a good night sleep. Make sure you have working headphones and do your best! You got this Panthers! We believe in YOU!
Pick Up and Drop Off Concerns
We would like to remind parents that the parking lot is NOT TO BE USED for picking up or dropping off students. For safety purposes, we do not want students trying to access cars when buses are entering and exiting the lot.
We also have several more buses this year, and cars in the lot are delaying the flow of buses, in turn causing them to be late. Please use the front driveway when picking up and dropping off.
Curriculum Night
Curriculum night will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet our staff and learn about our curriculum. Click here for the evening's Agenda.
Chromebook Reminder
It is important that your student bring a fully-charged chromebook to school. If your student has lost their charger, please have them see Mrs. Centeno and/or Miss Donile in the Media Center to purchase a new one.
E-Learning
At the Aug 13, 2024 board meeting the CUSD201 School Board approved the following E-Learning Program.

Three Pillars Donations
On last weeks Standards Day we had a lot of fun sharing our Three Pillars of Expectations with students, reviewing common language and expectations, and uniting around kindness as a school community.
Paired with our Kindness in the Classroom curriculum, teachers and staff are regularly recognizing students who display these pillars. Students will receive tickets that can be used for weekly raffle drawings and prizes.
If you are able to partner with us in this positive behavior initiative and donate a prize it would be greatly appreciated. Ideas could be as simple as a small donation or a small gift card to Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, or anywhere kids love! Snacks, gel pens, notebooks, etc.... a small token will go a long way!
We are already so proud of what we are seeing here in the classrooms and hallways. We encourage you to talk to your student about the pillars of Safety, Respect, and Responsibility and we look forward to sharing with you the great things WJHS students do throughout the year.
Remember to check the WJHS calendar for up-to-date information on Clubs, Events, & Athletics.
