Notes from the Nurse
Summer is here and that means the weather is HOT. Please remember to dress your child for the outdoor temperature, not the indoor temperature. You may send a hoodie in case they are cool in the classroom. Children are at high risk for heat related illnesses, so dressing your child in a lot of layers or long sleeves and long pants can be dangerous this time of year. Please make sure to send your child with a refillable water bottle so that they can stay hydrated throughout the day.
As we close out the school year, please remember to pick up medications from the nurse. Medications cannot be sent home with students unless they are parent pick up. No medicine will be sent home with students who go to daycare or ride the bus. Nurse Heather is available during school hours for pick-up. Any medication or supplies not picked up by May 28, 2024 will be discarded. Per state law, no medications may be stored on campus over the summer.
If your student has an asthma or seizure action plan, they will need a new one for the 2024- 2025 school year. These forms are available at the Menchaca Health Services page-- https://sites.google.com/southsideisd.org/menchaca-health-services/documents-and-forms
For any questions, please contact Nurse Heather at heather.siebert@southsideisd.org or 210-882-1610 ext 4059.

Have Fun and Be Safe!
When choosing your child's shoes in the morning, don't forget about P.E. and recess!
Sandals, Crocs, boots and heels might seem easy and cute, but they pose safety concerns during play. Help us prevent unnecessary injuries by sending your child in play-appropriate footwear. Shoes with Velcro straps or laces and rubber soles are highly recommended.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Did you know...
Showing up on time every day is important to your child’s success and learning from Pre-Kindergarten forward.
Missing 10% of school (1 or 2 days every few weeks) can make it harder to:
• Gain early reading and math skills.
• Build relationships.
• Develop good attendance habits.
High quality preschool and kindergarten has many benefits!
• The routines your child develops will continue throughout school.
• Make the most of early grades by encouraging your child to attend every day.
For questions regarding your child's attendance, please contact our PEIMS Clerks:
