Special Surprise
Yesterday, our 3rd graders took their Omaha field trip. One of the places that they visited was the Omaha Fire Department downtown. To their surprise, one of the firefighters, Daniel Prucha, was an Oakdale graduate! They were thrilled to get to talk to him, ask him questions, and learn that he attended Oakdale just like them! We shared the photo of them together with Daniel's mom and below is her response. Many of us know how special Oakdale is because we live and breathe it every day. Her remarks just show how much an impact Oakdale is on our students.
--------------------------------------------
I cannot thank you enough for sharing this picture and kind words with me about Daniel. He will have this picture to look back on as a special memory from his time as a brand new OFD Firefighter/Paramedic when he retires in 30 years! Hopefully having a former Oakdale student talk to them today made the trip a little more special, relatable, and memorable for the students.
I also hope that you and all of the wonderful Oakdale teachers who educated our 4 sons know what an important part you have played in all our sons’ successes. Daniel has been through an extremely rigorous educational, hiring, and training process to get his degree, learn to save lives and reach his ultimate goal of being a member of OFD at age 22. He exceeded expectations at every challenge given to him. I tell you this because I can 100% say that the Oakdale staff laid the foundation for where he is today…..living his dream and serving the Omaha community with pride. I assure you, he used every ounce of reading, writing, math, science, physical education, study habits, and “Triple B” skills that were instilled in him there!
I am forever grateful for what each of you do to help our children achieve their goals, and become productive members of society. You make more of a difference than you will ever know.
