Tiger Academy is filling up! We have a variety of fun offerings this year. Some of our more popular classes like Lego Mania, Ultimate Frisbee, and Taylor's Swift Tour Party are almost full! We have also some great offerings that combine academics and fun like Crazy 8's (Math) on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the Read and Watch: BFG (Reading) on Wednesdays.

Parents are welcome to join us for our Boosterthon Fun Run on Wednesday! Please head directly out back at your child's assigned time. As a reminder, please do not park in the fire lane in the driveway. Some parking is available in our school lot or you can park on Ballardvale. K-2's run will start at 9:20 and 3-5's run will start at 10:30.

At the Bend in the River: Pennacook Abenaki Archaeology in Andover where 4th graders took on the role of archaeologists to study indigenous settlements near the Merrimack River.

Last week, students engaged in activities about Respect. Students read "A Little Respectful Spot," and discussed showing respect in different scenarios. Over the previous four weeks, students have reviewed and learned about Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect. This week, students will understand that when they use all they have learned they will be Successful!

This week, we recognized and expressed our deep appreciation for the amazing custodial team here at South School. Mr. Howes, Mrs. Savastano, and Mr. Calabritto work tirelessly every day to keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and families. From early morning to late in the evening, they are the unsung heroes who ensure our building is ready for learning.

Please join us in thanking our custodians for their continued commitment to making South a place we are all proud to call home.

We are looking for new members of our South School School Council!

As mandated by the Massachusetts Education Reform Act (June, 1993) South School established a School Council that is a representative, school building-based committee composed of an equal number of parents and staff and a community member. The Council is an advisory body to the principal and its purpose is to assist the principal in reviewing the school building budget, in developing a school improvement plan, and in identifying educational needs and goals for our students at South School. The council will meet four times this year.

We have vacancies here at South School for Council representation. If you feel you are able to share your time and energy in this capacity, please let Brenda Lee know to place your name in nomination. Please be assured that the only criterion for eligibility is a love of children and a willingness to serve! In your email, state your desire to serve, any life experiences that may support Council work, and the number of years you are willing to serve (one or two). Please deliver it or email it to Brenda Lee (brenda.lee@andoverma.us) by Friday, October 11. If ballots are necessary, they will be sent home through the PTO. Details to follow.

All students are able to receive 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch daily during the 2024-2025 school year. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 8:45 - 9:00 and does not need to be ordered ahead of time.

Lunches will need be preordered. It is very important that our cafeteria has an accurate lunch count each day. Please review with your children each morning what you have ordered for them.
