Dear Strath Haven Middle School Families:
I hope all of our students enjoyed their first week of school. It was our goal to spend the first four days teaching expectations and helping students connect. The SHMS teachers and staff worked very hard last week to help students get adjusted to middle school life. Our number one goal is to support our students. Please reach out to a teacher, school counselor, or grade-level administrator if your child needs any support.
The first SHMS Home & School meeting is moved to Monday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the SHMS library.
Students will receive a picture order form in Advisory this week. Picture day will take place next Wednesday, September 11th. Students may stop by the main office if they need an extra form.
Don’t forget, Back to School Night will take place for 6th grade on Monday, September 9th and for 7th/8th grade on Tuesday, September 10th at 7:00 p.m. Back to School Night will end a little after 8:30 p.m.
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. On Friday, September 27th each grade level will participate in a presentation from Minding Your Mind, which is a national organization that creates experiences that open minds and show people they are not alone when they are struggling. They use the power of storytelling to provide evidence-based education about mental health challenges in schools, communities, and workplaces. Through stories and experiences, they create the power to inspire others and take action to help themselves, peers, and others.
