Leo Club
Who wants a donut AND a chance to make a difference? Leo’s Club is hosting Donuts 2 Donate from February 26th until March 4th! For just $2, you get a donut AND you choose where your money goes—Special Olympics, Lydia House, or the American Cancer Society!
Donuts will be sold before school and during lunch. So grab a treat, give back, and make an impact!
PLHS Key Club
During the Month of March, Key Club is hosting an Advisement Challenge. Each Advisement is challenged to bring in the most items for InstaParty Kits to be donated to the NeighborGood Pantry. All items will become an "Instant Birthday Party in a Box" for families in need. The winning Advisement with get class treats to celebrate helping so many kids to have a birthday party. Items to donate include:
Gift bags and boxes
Birthday cards
Cake mixes
Cans of frosting
Small bottles of vegetable oil
Candles
Small plates
Cups
Napkins
Utensils
Celebratory decorations (party hats, signs, streamers, etc.)
Disposable cake pans
Driver's Education
Monarch 2025 SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION
Requirements!
1. Must be 15 years of age by the start of class.(We are unable to accept 18
year olds)
2. Students must have a Learners Permit or School Permit from the DMV of
Nebraska.
3. All students must have access to a computer or cell phone and email for
online testing. Students will need to bring a writing utensil and notebook to
class.
4. All students must complete 20 hours of classroom instruction.
5. Limit of 25 students per session.
6. The driving lessons are to be arranged with the instructor. Students are
expected to practice outside of class. The student will need to pass a DMV
approved road test to complete the class.
CLASSROOM DATES: June 2 - June 12
(Class held Monday through Thursday) No Friday Class
Session 1: 8:00-10:30
Session 2: 11:00 - 1:30

BEHIND-THE-WHEEL:
Driving arranged with instructor June 2 through July 3rd
The cost is $425.00
Once a class enrollment reaches 25, that class will be unavailable for
sign up. If all classes are full you will need to contact ESU#3 to be
put on a waitlist.

ESU#3 website. It will remain open until Class is full.

Summer School
Dates for Summer School will be May 29th through June 13th. Sessions run from 8:00am - 11:00am or 12:00pm - 3:00pm. Registration for PE will be assigned as a first come, first serve basis. Registration opens at 4:00pm on April 7, 2025. A link to a sign-up genius will be sent to students and parents at that time.
Registration for credit recovery will be done with students' counselors.

Don’t miss out on your chance to order your full-color 2025 Yearbook for your student! You can reserve your copy for $80 until April 18, 2025. Please note: The PLHS Yearbook is a “fall delivery” book. Students will pick up their books at registration in August 2025. This allows for a book that can document the ENTIRE school year, including spring sports/activities, Prom & graduation.

Counseling Center
With this new school year, the counseling team has made a few changes. Please take note of your counselor as they may or may not have changed from the prior year. Counselors have divided the entire student population alphabetically this year. Should you need to see your counselor, please make use of the QR code, and complete the form to let your counselor know you need them. They will send a pass so you can meet with them.
- Mr. Caruso is your counselor if your student's last name begins with letters "A" through "C".
- Ms. Lawhorn is your counselor if your student's last name begins with letters "P" through "S".
- Ms. Madler is your counselor if your student's last name begins with letters "E", "N", "O", and "T" through "Z".
- Mr. Reyes is your counselor if your student's last name begins with letters "D" and "F" through "H".
- Ms. VanSteenbergen is your counselor if your student's last name begins with "I" through "M".
- Ms. Schnabel is our very awesome Social Worker. She splits her time between Monarch High and IDEAL.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship
Attention Juniors!
The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans is now offering the Horatio Alger Scholarship to deserving students. To date, the Association has awarded over $265 million in scholarships to over 37,000 students. This scholarship is for students who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. These scholarships range in award value from $10,000 to $25,000.
Eligibility criteria included:
- High School Junior
- Demonstrated Financial Need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross household income)
- United States citizenship

You can sign up on MaiaLearning and visit with the following college(s) in the Counseling Center. In MaiaLearning click the "Events" tab on the left. Click the "Actions" on the right of the visit you would like to attend. Click "Attend". You will be signed up to attend! Just show up in the Counseling Office on the date and time of the visit you signed up for. It is the student responsibility to attend this visit. No passes will be sent. (These are STUDENT ONLY visits)
