COUNSELING CORNER
January's Character Strong Trait: Perseverance
This month the character trait we are learning all about is Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up.
Family Conversation Starters:
- Can you share or show what it means to have Perseverance?
- What are the 3 steps you use to follow directions?
- How might your family practice Perseverance this month?
FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH
February is Black History Month, a designated month of celebration of the achievements, culture, and contributions of Black Americans throughout US history. Teachers can highlight the stories of Black leaders, innovators, and activists, fostering a deeper understanding of their impact on our world. By exploring these contributions – not only during February, but also throughout the entire school year – students gain valuable insights into the diverse and rich history that continues to shape our collective future. Teaching about Black Americans is part of Colorado’s Social Studies Standards.
