D41 Elementary Students Celebrate Warhol
District 41 elementary art teachers have been incorporating Andy Warhol projects in art class as a way to connect to The Mac Warhol exhibit coming to the College of DuPage, June 3 - September 10, 2023.
"All of the elementary schools have created a Where's Warhol scavenger hunt throughout the schools that the kids are loving. For example, at Forest Glen we have hidden 30 pictures- like the Andy Warhol Cow is on the milk bin at lunch, the Santa Claus is by the holiday books in the library, etc.," said Forest Glen Art Teacher Colleen Hindman. In addition, the schools are planning on taking all 5th graders on a field trip to The Mac to see the exhibit in August.
May is National Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. See something, say something is incredibly important and even more so this time of year. And it’s not just for kids. If parents or staff notice something does not seem right or that there are signs a student needs help, there are a number of resources available for support. Here are two that can provide immediate help in an emergency/crisis situation 24/7.
The new 211 number is a DuPage County resource for health and social services. Calling 211 can help someone access free and confidential crisis and emergency counseling, disaster assistance, food, health care and insurance assistance, stable housing and utilities payment assistance, employment services, veteran services and childcare and family services.
Safe2Help Illinois is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, and website (Safe2HelpIllinois.com) to share information on school safety issues in a confidential environment. Once vetted, the information provided will be shared with local district and school officials and/or local PSAP/9-1-1- call center, depending on the nature of the information shared.
As always, please also reach out to your school principals, social workers and school psychologists for support, if needed.

Emergency Response Mutual Aid Agreement with DuPage School Districts
District 41 participated in a press conference last week with DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Regional Office of Education Superintendent Darlene Ruscitti announcing a Mutual-Aid Emergency Response Agreement with other DuPage County school districts. District 41 has signed this agreement and it was approved by the District 41 Board of Education. District 41 will receive or provide resources in the event of a crisis. For more information, go to:
Parent Access to Securly - D41 Online Student Safety System
Safety of students is our number one priority and that includes internet safety. Many District 41 students will be in the possession of district technology over summer break. As a way to help families monitor devices and keep children safe online, the district provides parents access to the student safety management system called Securly.
Securly is installed on all district issued devices. This is the same monitoring system we use during the school year. Over summer break, Securly will continue to monitor the devices and notify parents of content that could be of concern.
- District 41 adds all parent emails that we have on file in the Skyward database into
Securly.
- Parents will receive a welcome email from Securly.
- District 41 updates any parent email changes or additions from Skyward each week
on Thursday afternoons.
- Parents will receive weekly email reports on Monday's from Securly. The reports will
contain only information about at-home activities.
Please CLICK HERE to visit the FAQ page about the Securly Parent Portal.
Please continue to talk with your children about internet safety and monitor their technology usage at home. Thank you for partnering with us to keep students safe and responsible while online this summer.
NOTE: If you need help with your Securly account or want to learn more about Securly please look at this article. Remember, parents and students seeking technology support can enter a ticket at our D41 Support Center here (directions). Also note, our safeguards will remain in place, but with students and staff not in the buildings over the summer we will not be actively monitoring all alerts from Securly.
