Teachers and Staff attended the CSCOE Summit--October 16
The Catholic School Center of Excellence hosted all PreK-8th grade schools to the CSCOE Summit last Wednesday. What a great day! We started the day celebrating mass with Archbishop Hebda and then each staff member attended three sessions of their choice to further enhance their daily instruction. We ended the day together with Melanie Hempe, founder of Screen Strong. She addressed topics surrounding healthy screen time for our students.

Youth Group Activity
Come join Sacred Heart and St. Raphael's for the first Friday Night Live! Similar to what was called Saturday Night Alive (SNA) we'll have a night of food, games, and prayer for 6th-8th graders. Held at St. Raphael's (7301 Bass Lake Road, Crystal, MN), the night goes from 6:00 PM - 9:00PM and we'll be talking about what it means to be a saint. Also, there will be an optional costume contest where your middle schooler can dress up as their favorite saint.
Contact Katie Kruc (kkruc@shrmn.org) with any questions, or if you'd like to volunteer to help with the night.

Recycling Plastic
Dear Sacred Heart community,
We have the chance to keep plastic film out of landfills! This fall, the school is hosting a Ridwell recycling drive. You’re invited to bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school on Tuesday, November 12, and Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. Start collecting plastic film now so you have a bunch to bring during the drive!
This info sheet explains what plastic film is and why it’s hard to recycle, and this video shows a ton of examples. All the plastic film we collect during the drive will be turned into Trex decking!
Curious about Ridwell at-home recycling pickup? They collect hundreds of common household items you can’t recycle curbside, like plastic food packaging, lightbulbs, clothes, Styrofoam, and more. You can help the school earn rewards if you sign up for a household membership by December 15. We’ll earn pickup of the school’s plastic film all spring when 10 new members sign up and a field trip to the Ridwell warehouse when 20 new members sign up.

Thank you!

Art Adventure 2024
Calling for Art Adventure Volunteers-Need Kinder, 6, 7, 8
Please consider being a “Picture Person” in a classroom! We present Art Adventure, a program created by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, to students in November and December. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours. This year’s theme is How People Lived. Classroom Picture People are not art historians or artists themselves, instead, you will lead students in conversations about art, listen as they describe what they see, talk about what the artist is hoping to express, how the art makes them feel. Any parent would be a great Picture Person!
The MIA provides amazing virtual and in-person training, a printed book for you to keep, and art reproductions for presenting. Please use SignUp to claim your spot. Contact Joanna Rosendahl with any questions 612-876-1929 (call or text), email: joannarosendahl@gmail.com
Joanna is a volunteer and parent of a sixth grader and is coordinating Art Adventure this year.

Need help paying for tuition?
MN Fundraising Initiative (MNFI) secures contracts with over 23 venues in the greater Twin Cities area including Target Field, Target Center, Canterbury, and US Bank to operate food and beverage concessions stands at their events.
MNFI organizes teams of volunteers from all over the state of MN and WI who work together to run these stands. In turn, MNFI receives donations from these venues. The donations are then used to award grants to families in local communities to allow youth to attend private school, such as Sacred Heart Catholic School and participate in enrichment activities they may not otherwise be able to enjoy. Checks are mailed directly to Sacred Heart in your name.
Many of our school families use this organization to help pay for tuition.
