"You Belong in the Boat"
Families: Here's what's happening for the week of October 21st 📣
- The School Bank will be open Tuesday, October 22 (tomorrow) for deposits.
- The 26th Annual Turkey Trot will take place this Wednesday at TC High School track; beginning at 5:00 PM. More information below.
- If you have reached out to your students teacher to volunteer in the classroom, participate in field trips, or events, a Volunteer Consent Form must be filled out. A new form and background check must be completed each school year. This can be obtained from the office. A copy of your state-issued driver's license is required to process all volunteer applications. Print the volunteer form here: Volunteer Form
- If your student is absent, please call the office attendance line, (231) 937-4380, press 1. Absences must be reported to the office within 24 hours for it to be excused. A reason for the students absence must be stated or it will be considered unexcused. If you know ahead of time that your student will be absent, a planned absence form can be filled out and submitted to the office. Print a TCE planned absence form here: TCE Planned Absence Form

End of the Day Changes
Any changes to how your student is going home for the day needs to be received by the office no later than 2:45pm. After this time, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get end-of-the-day notifications to your student. As you can imagine, the end of the school day can be very busy in the office. For this reason, we discourage early pickups after 3:00pm. In the case of an emergency, please call the office to prearrange a pickup time- 231-937-4830
November 5th Election
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, voters in the Tri County Area Schools district will be asked to once again renew the district’s Operating Millage. This will be a two-year renewal of the Non-Homestead millage, for the 2025 and 2026 tax years.
This proposal will NOT impact the taxes on owner-occupied homes in our district. Only second or rental homes, commercial properties, and industrial properties are affected.
The non-homestead millage is essential to maintaining the current programs offered by the district. If this funding is lost, the district will lose a portion of the Foundation Allowance, which cannot be replaced with any other funding source. While primary households are not affected by this millage, state law requires a district-wide election to approve the millage.
What happens if the non-homestead millage does not pass?
If the non-homestead millage does not pass, Tri County Area Schools will no longer be able to assess the full 18 mils that voters approved in August 2022. This would mean a loss of revenue of approximately $2.8 million dollars. The State of Michigan will not replace the lost revenue; therefore Tri County Area Schools would be forced to significantly reduce expenditures to offset the loss of funding, possibly including educational programs and staff, extra-curricular activities, athletics, transportation, etc. to reach a balance budget.

Halloween👻
Please look for an email and more information from your students teacher in regards to classroom activities and the Halloween parade.
🎃 Keep it Spooky, Not Scary: Avoid costumes with violent or bloody images. It's okay to look "spooky," but nothing too gruesome.
👁️ Masks and Makeup: Students are not to wear any full facial costume masks on the bus and in the building. Please keep makeup minimal and apply it at home. Remember, learning is still happening.
🧥 Costumes: Please make sure your child’s costumes are in good taste (no off-color or suggestive writing on costumes, inappropriate accessories, etc).
🚫 No Weapons: Please don’t include any weapons or anything that resembles a weapon
in the costume.

Did You Know?
If your child forgets to return a library book on their scheduled classroom visit, they can return the book anytime during the week. Our library also has open times each day for student visits and allows additional time for returns and new check outs!
Students with overdue books still fully participate in library activities, but will not be able to check out a new book until the overdue book is returned. Overdue notices with the title of the book, author, and replacement cost are sent using our district email. Have questions? Please contact me at mgould@tricountyschools.com
Thanks for supporting our incredible library space and reminding your child to return library books in a timely manner. This helps keep our library well-stocked with great books for everyone!
