Sandscript hosts open mic
A FUN AND FABULOUS OPEN MIC was hosted by Sandscript on Wednesday, and both students and staff were invited to attend and perform. We heard wonderful music from Junior Talia Perez, Teacher Matt Brown, and School Psychologist Peter Norton. Fabulous poetry and prose were read by Sophomore Quill Adamsons, Senior Hope Jorgensen, Junior Talia Perez, Sophomore Jason Elhilow, and Teacher Rory Johnson! We were entertained by a rap written by Eighth grader Jude McMahon (with support from Eighth grader Sam Kelly), and finally, we were enthralled by the terrific Mongolian dancing of AFS student, Naranjin Bold in full costume!! Enjoy the photos!
Interact Club brings holiday cheer to our community's seniors
The Monomoy Interact Club donned their Santa hats and went on a fun field trip this week in the hopes of "delivering" some holiday cheer to our community. 24 students participated and the seniors at Liberty Commons in Chatham and the Harwich Council on Aging were smiling ear to ear! They were thrilled to meet these wonderful students and hear them sing beautiful Christmas carols. In addition, the students delivered homemade Christmas cards and cookies! Thank you to Chris Morris, who played the piano to accompany the singing, and a Shark Shout Out to Kerri Robinson and Lisa Forte-Doyle for donating the festive attire! These are the students who shared their time and enthusiasm to brighten someone else's day!

Weekly Athletics Roundup: Week of December 12th, 2022
Boys Basketball: Michael Desir
Tuesday, December 13, we played against the Dolphins and brought a good fight and battled hard starting the first half of the game and going into the second half keeping the game tight, down 2. But then DY started to go on a crazy break and messed us up defensively and somewhat of our offense with their intense defense. At the end of the Day Finn and I were proud of everyone playing their hearts out and the bench being loud and giving everyone a lift with their motivation. Now we need to take this loss and turn it into a win against Cape Tech.
Girls Basketball: Lucy Mawn
Girls basketball is just getting started. We beat Nauset 45-36 to open our season last Friday. We played DY for our home opener on Tuesday. Through a very hard fought game we fell short 45-28. Great defensive game by the girls all around. Looking to get a win for our next game on Tuesday away at Falmouth.
Boys Hockey: Mitchell Silva
Boys hockey lost a tough home opener game 7-0 against DY. The boys were only down by 2 goals at the end of the first period in a great effort. Despite being a young team, everyone seemed to keep their heads high and not back down. Of course, we can continue to improve on our plays, communication, and other aspects of the game, but there are high hopes for the season to come. This was a first highschool hockey game for many of the team members, and myself alongside coaches and other older players on the team are very proud of how everyone is working together and how hard they are trying.
Girls Hockey: Morgan Willis
This past week, Furies ice hockey had a game on 12/11 against Pope Francis. It was a great game, and we beat them 3-2. From Monomoy, Gaby Bassett scored. We have been working hard during practices this week for our upcoming games including today, 12/15 against Nantucket, and this Saturday, 12/17 @ Martha’s Vineyard. (-Morgan Willis)
