Inclusion at Grant Elementary
At Grant we strive to be an Inclusive School especially because we have a Multi-Age Resource Room program at Grant Elementary. It's important to me as the leader of Grant to create 1 Unit when we have a different program in our school so all kids feel included and valued. Some may be thinking what does inclusion mean? Inclusion in schools is crucial because it creates a welcoming environment where every student feels valued, respected, and able to participate fully in learning, regardless of their background, abilities, or differences, leading to improved academic performance, social development, and a positive school community for all students; essentially giving everyone a fair chance to thrive in school. Key reasons why inclusion is important in schools the following:
- Promotes a sense of belonging
- Enhances social skills
- Improves academic achievement
- Develops critical thinking
- Reduces bullying and discimination
- Prepares students for the real world
- Empowers all students
Grant is a very special place to be and we are very lucky to have each and everyone of your children at Grant with us too. Thank you for sharing all students with us.
We have always included all our students during recess time together, had buddy classrooms, our P.E. teacher with the support of our Team Lead has done the Young Athletes Program where 3rd and 4th grade students support our MARP students, go on Field Trips together by grade level, Whole School Sing-A-Long to name a few. This year we have included all of our students seated together in the cafeteria which began this week. It was such a joy to see all of our students enjoying time with one another at lunch time.
Finally, this year at Grant Elementary we have put together a new team called the "Inclusion Team" which is a group of staff members who will be meeting monthly to talk about other ways we can continue to include all kids at Grant because "Once A Gator, Always a Gator". Thank you for sharing your child(ren) with us too.

Care Solace
A Joyful December: National Stress-Free Holidays Month
Dear Community and Staff,
The holidays are upon us—a time for joy, connection, and creating meaningful memories with loved ones. It’s also a season that can bring its own pressures, like planning visits, managing gift budgets, and organizing events. With everything on your plate, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
While traditions and celebrations are meaningful, it’s just as important to care for your mental well-being. National Stress-Free Family Holidays Month reminds us to be mindful of stress and take steps toward self-care. Here are a few tips to help make your holidays more manageable and joyful:
- Modify traditions if needed. It’s okay to adjust traditions if they feel overwhelming. Your mental health takes priority.
- Learn the power of saying "no." If a commitment feels too much, give yourself permission to decline.
- Plan ahead. Use a calendar to stay organized and avoid last-minute tasks that can create unnecessary stress.
- Share your feelings. Talk to someone you trust if you're feeling anxious or missing a loved one. You are not alone.
- Take time for self-care. Make sure to rest and recharge, even as you care for others.
If you’d like professional support, Care Solace is available to help connect you or your loved ones to mental health services. This is a complimentary, confidential service provided by Livonia Public Schools.
How to Access Support:
- Call: 888-515-0595 (Multilingual support available 24/7/365)
- Visit: www.caresolace.com/livonia
- Search for providers independently or click “Book Appointment” to get assistance via video chat, phone, or email.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a peaceful start to the new year. May you return from winter break rested, recharged, and ready for what’s ahead!
