Our Learning Community...
This week we have a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and celebrate Kindness Week. Dr. King’s life was dedicated to the values of love, equality, and service, reminding us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in building a more inclusive and caring world.
Throughout the week, our students will engage in activities that encourage acts of kindness and highlight the power of compassion and service. We will also take time to reflect on Dr. King’s dream of creating a world where every person is treated with dignity and respect.
Here are a few ways we can honor Dr. King and participate in Kindness Week:
- Acts of Service: Encourage your child to look for ways they can help others, whether it’s at school, at home, or in the community. Even small gestures, like helping a classmate or picking up litter, embody Dr. King’s spirit of service.
- Kindness Challenges: Students will be participating in kindness-themed challenges to inspire them to spread positivity throughout the week. Ask your child about their favorite ways to show kindness!
- Family Conversations: Take a moment to talk as a family about Dr. King’s values and how kindness and service can make a difference in your lives and the lives of others.
As Dr. King said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Let’s work together to show our school and community that we can be the change we wish to see.
Coach Jensen's Corner...
As we start the new year, we continue to build our physical literacy. We want our students at Jones to be happy, active and to learn how to make healthy choices. To be active and have fun playing lots of games and sports, there are basic skills we need to learn. We have already been working on throwing, jumping, running, catching, and traveling without bumping into others. These skills help us feel more confident when playing sports or games at recess and when our skills improve, we are more willing to try new activities.
This month in dance class, we are working on jazz and 1980’s inspired dances. Feel free to ask your Jones students to show off their moves which include the running man, the cabbage patch, the sprinkler, the snake and strike a pose, Vogue. We are having lots of fun moving our bodies!
Stay active – Coach Jensen

Dolphin Pride Yard Signs
We are so proud of the incredible community here at Jones and we want to spread our Dolphin pride far and wide! To celebrate our school spirit and the amazing things happening here, we are offering free Dolphin Pride Yard Signs to families who are willing to display one in their yard.
This is a wonderful way to share our school’s positivity and excitement with neighbors. Together, we can show everyone how much we love being part of our learning community.
If you are interested in receiving a yard sign, please let come to the front office to get while supplies last (our office is open 7:00 am - 3:00 pm). Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our Dolphin family. Let’s share our pride with the whole community!

PTA Spotlight...
The PTA plays a crucial role in fostering strong family engagement at Jones Elementary. By organizing activities that bring families, students, and staff together, the PTA helps grow a stronger sense of belonging within our school community. These events not only strengthen relationships but also empower families to be active participants in their children's education, enhancing student success and building a supportive, collaborative school environment. Thank you for the leadership of our PTA Executive Board members, the volunteers that plan and execute PTA events, and all of you who participate. Check out what our PTA is up to...
