The Wolfpack Edge

Greetings
The Wolfpack Edge serves as a weekly communication to our parent community. We'll send it to your inbox each Thursday during the school year. If you would like the newsletter to be sent to an additional account, let us know! Grandparents & supporters may request to receive the communication, too. Please email Mrs. Kathy Mouw with contact information: Kathy.Mouw@westernchristianhs.com
Today's chapel welcomes Cindy Kamstra from Rock Valley to share a message with us. Cindy’s kids attended and graduated from Western, and we give thanks for her willingness to lead us. Cindy and I have been visiting for quite some time about possible topics, and she feels led to share some personal stories that will lead us to the truth about all of us: God loves us and delights in us. Our worship team has selected songs to reaffirm that message; after meeting in the EC, our Faithpacks will take up a special activity as we meet together. We are going to bless and encourage others, as Cindy’s words have blessed and encouraged us. While students will be allowed to share encouragement and blessing with a variety of people, all groups are being encouraged to be a blessing to Levi Van Ravenswaay and Lisa Van Otterloo. Please pray that our chapel will be a blessing to all who attend and then God will show each of us how to be a blessing to others.
Please consider joining us for chapel by subscribing to Western Christian High School Livestreams on YouTube.

Our goal is to ensure that Christ-centered education remains vibrant, accessible, and sustainable for generations to come. NCC SCRUBS CAMP
NCC is offering a Scrubs Camp on NCC’s campus on Tuesday, March 11 from 9 AM to 2 PM. Registration is from 8:15–8:45 AM. This event is for all students currently enrolled in 7-12 grade interested in a healthcare career. We do have limited space so please have your students sign up as soon as possible. We will need students to fill out the online registration form as the workshop is hands-on and there is a liability waiver for parents to sign for them to be able to participate in all of the activities. Visit here to register. Visit here to learn more.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
This week for professional learning, we had our third round of task collaboration. This practice is a great way to be reflective about things we are doing in our classrooms and get feedback from different content areas about how we can make our work more accessible and meaningful for students. This has been a long-time practice at Western, and we really enjoy this time of collaboration.
STUDENT SUPPORT
At Western Christian High School, we recognize our students’ unique creation and the variety of God-given talents and skills. We know that each student presents a unique combination of such strengths. We believe it is our responsibility to meet students where they are at in their journey and equip them with the tools and resources required to exceed their potential. To meet the need, we have a Student Support Team with a variety of resources. Go here to learn more about who to connect with!

Let's Talk Risk
In recent years, gambling among high school students has become an increasing concern, particularly with the rise of sports betting and poker. With easy access to online platforms and peer influence, more teenagers are engaging in betting activities, often without fully understanding the risks involved.
This resource emphasizes the risks associated with early exposure to gambling, noting that children introduced to "harmless betting" by age 12 are four times more likely to develop problem gambling behaviors later in life. It highlights the importance of parental awareness and proactive conversations about the dangers of gambling.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Western Christian High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs (if any exist), and athletic or other school administered programs.
