Entrance Conferences
Entrance Conferences are next week, Tuesday Sept. 3, and Wednesday Sept. 4. If you haven't signed up for your child's conference yet, we want to help you get that scheduled ASAP. Please email fe@Isd77.org at your earliest convenience, or call the Franklin office at 507-345-4287, and we will connect with you to get a conference scheduled.
Early Release Days Continue This Year
What does this mean for families? On the dates listed below, ELEMENTARY students will be dismissed from school at 12:30 P.M. Buses will drop students off at their normal bus stop, approximately two hours earlier than a typical afternoon, and parents who pick their students up at school should make arrangements to do so right at 12:30. There will be no Excel or other after school programming, with the exception of ACES, on these dates. Students who are registered for the ACES after school program will be supervised by school staff from 12:30 - 2:30, and ACES staff will take over at that time. Families whose children don't attend ACES, but still require supervision from 12:30 - 2:30 will be able to sign up for "after-school care" on these dates, similar to how we managed late start childcare. More information on that process will be shared as the September Early Release Day approaches.

Understanding Your Child's Progress
MAPS elementary schools will be changing the timing of Progress Reports to increase the frequency of scheduled communication with families about student achievement. Starting in the fall of 2024, Progress Reports will occur at different times than Parent Teacher Conferences. Parent Teacher Conferences will continue to be held in November and March, and Progress Reports will be completed in January and June. This change will provide an opportunity for families to receive communication four times during the school year, and families will have an understanding of their child’s progress at the end of the school year.
Families will be able to see their child’s progress report through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. If families are unable to access their child’s progress report online, they can request a paper copy by contacting the office at their child’s school.

What Does it Mean to be a Title I School?
The purpose of Title I, Part A, under the Federal ESEA Act is to supplement services to students to help them learn what they need to know to be successful on high academic standards. Franklin Elementary is a Title I school, meaning we receive additional funding to provide supplemental interventions or services to students. Franklin uses this additional funding specifically to provide additional reading support and social emotional support to students, purchase literature and other materials to support classroom instruction, and to purchase other materials that enhance the learning environment here at Franklin.

Morning Recess Continues Again This Year
Students who eat breakfast at school should line up at Door 1 as soon as they arrive. An adult will allow them into the building when it's time for breakfast to be served. (between 7:35-7:40)
Classroom teachers will share more details around our AM procedures when you meet with them at Entrance Conferences.
