KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
What a fun Enrichment Fund Week it has been. Rounding out the week with Fancy Friday today with the students in their picture day attire was great too. PTA will share an update on the results of Piggy Palooza soon!
This afternoon two of our staff members were recognized at the Fulton County Legacy of Excellence luncheon. We were excited to celebrate Andi Nelson as our Teacher of the Year and Cecilia Arguello as our Professional Employee of the Year. Both staff members contribute so much to Northwood and we are lucky to have them represent us! Congratulations again to Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Arguello!
College Avenue is one of our hallways here on campus that reminds our students that we are preparing them to be college and career ready. The hall is lined with college pennants from universities and colleges from all over the world. There remains some free space if you would like to donate a college pennant to the hallway. It’s ok if there are more than one from a school; I have added a couple more black and gold ones to the collection. If you’d like to send one in you can give it to Mrs. Weeks, our School Counselor or Mrs. Robertson at the front desk and they’ll make sure to add it to the hallway.
With gratitude,
Heather Rucker
Principal
KINDERGARTEN EXPLORERS
Last week the Kindergarten students met their 5th Grade Buddies. Together they drew pictures of each other and answered some questions to get to know each other better. This is such a special program for both Kindergarten and 5th grade students. We can’t wait to see our 5th grade buddies again on September 29th.
FIRST GRADE EXPLORERS
First Grade had so much fun this past week dressing up for our Piggy Fundraiser! We saw so many fun and exciting outfits this week with so many students. First grade has been super busy lately! We have been working so hard on graphing in Math, labeling the seven continents of the world in Social Studies, and writing our own personal narratives in Language Arts.

FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEAL BENEFITS
To help assure continuation of benefits, the household must complete an online application by September 19, 2023, at www.fulton.coollunchapp.com; or have a paper application turned in to the school cafeteria manager before September 16, 2023. Be sure to list all the students in the household on the application. Keep in mind, the application may take up to 10-days to process. If you have any questions, please call the Fulton County School Nutrition Program - Meal Eligibility Desk at 470-254-2220.
THE MORE YOU KNOW: GENERAL AND MEAL ACCOUNTS
When it comes to loading money onto your child's account, whether through the My Payments Plus Website or in person, there is a difference between the two accounts. Money loaded onto the Meal Account can only be used for Meals, while money onto the General Account can be used for Meals, Snacks, Ice Cream, and Ala Carte Items. So, if you only want your child to be able to purchase meals and nothing else, keep all funds on the Meal Account. Otherwise, you can put money on both, or put it all on the General Account.
