MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Franklin Students and Families,
We are in the midst of the Homecoming spirit this week. We had a fun game last night and our Lightning played a great game, but did not manage to secure the win this time. Tonight is the Homecoming dance which you can read more about below. Students who are attending should already have their tickets. We will not be selling them at the door. Be sure to bring your student ID as well to enter the dance. Thank you to the ASB leadership students and their teacher Ms. Humphreys for all your hard work in planning all the activities!
We are so excited to host legendary author Amy Tan this week along with OPB's Think Out Loud program! Students can sign up for an in-school field trip to attend the lecture which will be recorded live. Thank you to our amazing teacher librarian Ms. Frazee for making this significant event happen for our students and staff!
There are so many other upcoming events in the next few weeks such as the Franklin Lightning Band Play-a-Thon on Thursday, we hope you will tune in!
Have a great weekend!
Thank you,
Dr. Z
SCHOOL NEWS
TONIGHT: Homecoming Dance
The Associated Student Body (ASB) is proud to be hosting the first dance of the year on Saturday, October 5th, from 7:00-10:00pm. This year's Homecoming theme is Masquerade and ticket sales ended this past week. No tickets will be sold at the door.
There will be no re-entry at the dance, and doors will close for entry at 9:00pm. Every attendee needs to bring their student ID in order to enter. No big bags will be allowed, and all small bags/purses will be checked. Entry will be on the east side of the building by the cafeteria. If students are bringing a guest from another school, they should arrive together, and both should have their student ID.
Adult chaperones are still needed to help at the dance! Please consider signing up for a 1.5 hour shift here.

PTSA NEWS
NEW: Annual Wreath and Poinsettia Sale!
The PTSA is excited to announce the kick-off of our annual wreath and poinsettia sale, one of our largest and longest-running fundraisers. Take a look at what's available here, spread the word to your friends and neighbors, and be sure to place your orders by Thursday, October 31st!
During checkout, you can select to pick up your order from a home very close to school (we will email you the exact address the week prior) on Tuesday, November 26th between 3:00-6:00pm (this is a conference day), or you can opt for porch delivery by a PTSA volunteer on Tuesday, November 26th.
Even if you're not interested in making a purchase for yourself, please consider donating to an FHS family who could use a little extra holiday cheer this year. Once again we are partnering with SUN to purchase extra wreaths & poinsettias for families from our own community who might need a little boost this holiday season. SUN will deliver the items to families in early December. Thank you for your generosity, and as always we thank SUN for doing such important work.

Please consider signing up for all or part of the October 28th shift here!
So far this year, the Clothing Center has been very busy, and anyone that would like to help kids shop or help sort donations can head to Marshall campus on a Monday or Thursday school day from 9:30-1:30pm. Even a couple hours worth of help would be very appreciated!
The Clothing Center is currently looking for donations of the following items:
- teen-adult sized gently worn/new sweatshirts, hoodies, and warm coats
- boys pants, joggers, and jeans, sized 4-14
Donations can be dropped off at any PPS school for PONY delivery. Please label the box/bag: PTA Clothing Center @ Marshall Campus. You can also bring donations directly to the Clothing Center on Monday or Thursday school days from 9:30am-1:00pm.
Educator Spotlight
Your PTSA is proud to be kicking off one of our favorite traditions: Educator Spotlight. Now that school has been in session for about a month, we would love your nominations for any person in the Franklin building who is excelling at their job and making a positive difference in the the lives of those around them.
Prior to each of our general meetings, we will randomly choose two educators to spotlight, and invite them to join us and tell us a bit about themselves. It is always the highlight of each meeting, and helps to remind us of all the hard work that's being done inside the building every day. We would love to hear from you!
SUN NEWS
NEW: Dia de los Muertos Event
SUN is collaborating with our partner program, Latino Network, and our very own Latino Club to host a community altar for Dia de los Muertos. Using your PPS email, please complete the Diploma Submission Form.
We must receive your Diploma Submission no later than December 13, 2024. If no submission is received, your full legal name from Synergy (first, middle, and last) will be used and printed onto your 2025 Diploma.
