Fowler Connections
So much to see and do at the Fowler School! #OneMaynard
We are #OneMaynard #UmaMaynard #UnoMaynard
Week of Nov. 7-11, 2022
Thank you, Veterans!
There's perhaps no other country in the world that has this same belief in educating all of its people no matter the cost and no matter an individual's social or economic status.
"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." -G.K. Chesterton
“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” - Dan Lipinski
America's White Table
Located in the library to honor our Veterans, especially those MIA and POW. Fowler Librarian Ms. Swenson read the book "America's White Table" to students this week.
Thanks to the Karlon sisters (and their mom!) for changing the sign yesterday on 117 to honor our veterans! This photo was from 2021, when they also did the sign!
NHS Member Rose Mendez is working to establish a COMMUNITY SPORTS CLOSET!
Adam Sandler Day was HILARIOUS!
Adam Sandler Quote:
I'm not great at bedtime stories. Bedtime stories are supposed to put the kid to sleep. My kid gets riled up and then my wife has to come in and go, 'All right! Get out of the room.'
Parents, the student council is promoting Preemie Awareness. If your child was a preemie, Mrs. Sullivan is asking that you email her a photo of your child (not necessarily their infant photo, can be any photo) to be placed into a collage of preemie photos at Fowler! Email the photo to bsullivan@maynard.k12.ma.us
"Super Preemies" Fundraiser!
November is Preemie Awareness month and the Student Council is trying to support the cause. Students are asked to wear purple on Monday, November 21st to show their support. Students will have the opportunity to wear hats in school on Fridays of November for a $1.00 donation, as well they will have the opportunity to purchase a purple ribbon or purple bracelet for $1.00. Any donation is welcomed.
We would love to do a collage in the lobby of our "Super Preemies". If your child or a loved one was a preemie (born before completing 37 weeks), we would love to have a picture of them to add to our display. The picture does not have to be infancy, it can be recent or any other time of their life. Please email the picture to bsullivan@maynard.k12.ma.us and we will make the copy.
Winter Athletic Reminders
The Winter Athletics Information Session will be held on Monday, November 14th at 6pm in the MHS Gym.
Coaches attendance is mandatory as I will have all of you address the parents and students by program after I go over the general information.
More information and an agenda will be sent out prior to the meeting.
Thanks,
Mike

Chaperones
We are looking for Chaperones. Chaperones will get a complementary lift pass and bus ride to the mountain. Responsibilities include assisting students with rental equipment process, directing students to lessons, and supervising student activities in the lodge and on the mountain. We welcome chaperones who don’t plan to ski/ride and can hang out at our designated table in the lodge throughout the session. If you are interested in being a parent chaperone, please email lisamacphee1@gmail.com.
Mountain logistics
Due to the nature of the sport, we cannot ensure that students will be supervised at all times. They should be able to ride lifts and ski independently. First time skiers and riders should not go on any lift or slope without having their first lesson. They may need one or more sessions to learn the skills needed for lift service terrain. They can use the two carpet lifts to start.
Our group will have a designated table in the lodge. A chaperone will be present at the table throughout the session for students to be able to check in and hang out as needed.

GREEN MEADOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT
The Green Meadow Elementary School project team has submitted its second MSBA submission! This submission is called the Preferred Schematic Report (PSR) and it advances the initial existing conditions verification, educational visioning & programming and Owner / Community coordination into multiple design alternatives, shows MSBA the design alternative evaluation process taken by the project team, and highlights which design alternative was ultimately selected at the end of the process.
Below is a link to a Google Drive folder that contains the previous Preliminary Design Program (PDP) submission as well as the recent PSR submission. As always, we thank you very much for your attention to the project, and we’ll continue to keep you informed as the project moves along the MSBA process!
