Principal Welcome Back to Families
2024-2025
Happy summer break!
We hope you have an opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and re-energize for the return to school. We miss all of our returning students, and we look forward to welcoming new faces into our timberwolf family as well.
As we prepare for the beginning of the school year, we want to make sure that we share important information with our Heritage community. In this summer newsletter, you will find:
A calendar for the 2024-2025 school year with important dates to remember
Information for kinder students and families
A back-to-school guide for all students and families
All students and families will also receive a welcome back letter with important information in the coming weeks. Please check your mailbox for this information by mid-August. And as always, please reach out to us with any questions. You can reach us by clicking on the “Contact Us” ink at the bottom of the newsletter, via email at srawson@woodburnsd.org and amelia.solis-gonzalez@woodburnsd.org, or by phone at (503) 981-2600. Our goal is to be in communication with our families and collaborate for your child’s success!

2024-2025 Events Calendar
Jump Start Kindergarten
We are excited to confirm that Jump StartKindergarten will once again take place this year the week of August 12th-16th. This is an amazing opportunity for your kindergarten child to get to know school staff, classmates and school routines prior to all students being back. We have made calls to families and mailed postcards inviting all incoming kinder students to attend. If you are interested in having your kindergarten child participate and haven’t signed up yet, please call our main office at (503) 981-2600 and ask to have your child added to our class lists. If your student has already registered for the program, you will receive a phone call with bus information and program details for your child.
First Day of School, 1st-5th
The first day of school for first through fifth grade students is Monday, August 26th. Supervision for students breakfast begins at 7:30 am and school begins promptly at 7:55 am. Please do not drop off your student at school before 7:15 am. If you have a kinder student that is starting with us this year please be sure to check your mailbox for a letter from us with more details as to your student’s start date.
First Day of School, Kinder
Kinder students have a “staggered start” beginning the week of August 26th. Some kindergarten students will attend on 8/26, some on 8/27, some on 8/28, and some on 8/29. The first day that all kinder students will be in attendance at once is Friday, August 30th. In mid-August, we will mail a welcome letter with more details about your kindergarten student’s first week of school. This year we will be also conducting parent interviews to better know your student and family. You can expect a call from your child’s teacher with more details.
School Supplies
There is no need to purchase school supplies for your child! At Heritage, we will be providing all needed supplies and materials for every student. All we ask is that you send your child with a backpack, and that you only purchase supplies you might find necessary at home. If you are having difficulty providing a backpack for your child this year, please reach out to Monicka Tapia, homeschool contact at Heritage, at (503) 981-2609, or via email at mtapia@woodburnsd.org.
After School Club
The district’s After School Club (ASC) is an on-site, after school childcare service. ASC will be registering students beginning August 17th. Appointments may be requested starting August 7th. Please remember if you are interested in the program you must contact them as soon as possible as spots are limited. There is a fee for participation, with opportunities for a sliding scale dependent on income and grant related factors. For more information, please contact the ASC office at 503-308-9272.

Meet Your Administrators
Sherrilynn Rawson-Ybarra, Principal:
I’ve been an educator since 1985, a Woodburn educator since 1995, and a principal since 2002. I truly love the work I get to do every day, serving students and staff, and I’m passionate about multilingual learning. Recently married, my husband and I share seven children in our blended family. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as soccer, cooking, reading, and gardening.
Amy Solis Gonzalez, Assistant Principal:
Hello! I’ve been an educator since 2008 with the start of my career in Salem-Keizer. I have worked in many capacities; educational assistant, community school outreach coordinator, preschool teacher, after school program coordinator, elementary school teacher and human resources under recruitment and hiring working with aspiring teachers and high school students. I have been with Woodburn since 2022 as an assistant principal and have enjoyed every moment of it! My mexican-american roots and language have found a home in serving youth within the Heritage community. I am a mother of five children and enjoy outdoor activities, travel, cooking and spending time at my kids’ sport events. Family is very important to me as is my Heritage wolf pack!
