BECS Family Update
Friday Flyer - November 15th
What an amazing week it’s been here at Burbank! Our Farm To You event was a huge success, giving students a hands-on experience to and the opportunity to meet some friends from the farm. The children were buzzing with excitement as they explored and discovered during this engaging activity!
We were also fortunate to have visits from the UA Fire Safety Program, where students learned essential fire safety tips in a fun and interactive way, and from Central Ohio Music Therapy, which brought the joy of music into our classrooms. Watching the children connect through music and movement was a highlight of the week, reminding us of the power of creative expression in building confidence and community.
A big thank you to our families and community partners for making these enriching experiences possible. Your support helps us create a vibrant, well-rounded environment where our students can thrive. We’re looking forward to many more exciting opportunities in the weeks to come!
Burbank Week In Review
Staff Spotlight - Vicki Miller
This week, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Vicki Miller, our wonderful school nurse who joined the Burbank family in August 2023. Vicki brought with her a wealth of experience from her 17-year career as a nurse at Children's Hospital.
Since joining us, Vicki has embraced the warm, family-like atmosphere of Burbank. She loves coming to work each day, surrounded by the happiness of the children and the positivity of the staff, which she describes as a truly joyful experience.
Outside of her nursing role, Vicki has a deep passion for gardening, cooking, creating art, and diving into a good book. Vicki’s family includes her husband and their teenage son, who is currently attending Arlington High School. She treasures the time they spend together and is proud to call Upper Arlington home.
We are so fortunate to have Vicki as a vital part of our team, bringing care, kindness, and a positive spirit to our school every day!

Thanksgiving Support
Once again, the district is partnering with Tri-Village Packers (TVP) to provide grocery support during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This food distribution can offset some of the increased food expenses associated with an extended break from school. Groceries are distributed at no cost to families who sign up for the program. Volunteers work to honor dietary needs/restrictions, and delivery is available for those who experience transportation barriers.
If you would benefit from this assistance, please sign up by completing this Google Form by November 8.
Facilities Maser Planning Update
It’s time to join your friends and neighbors and get involved in phase two of facilities master planning! Upper Arlington Schools officially kicked off this community-driven process, focused on the aging middle schools and Burbank Early Childhood School, with the first round of community engagement sessions this week. All Upper Arlington stakeholders will be essential to this process, exploring both the physical and educational needs of each building and helping to identify possible solutions.
Join a building team! Serve as an expert and committed stakeholder for your school(s) of choice by signing up to volunteer for one or more building teams — Hastings, Jones or Burbank. Each team will have three meetings between December 2024 and April 2025. To sign up and learn more, visit the Building Teams page on our website.
Please take note of the following important dates and when our school will be closed.
- November 18th - WellKids
- November 27th - 29th - Thanksgiving Break (No School)
- December 3rd - Facilities Planning Building Team Meeting
- December 23rd - January 6th - Winter Break
